The Emergency Services Network of Kenosha County Homeless Awareness and Prevention Partnership invites you to participate as a Group Leader or Volunteer in the January 2025 Point-In-Time Homeless Street Outreach Event. This is a twice annual, one-night outreach event to engage people sleeping in unsheltered situations that captures a minimum amount of information to create a “snapshot” of what homelessness looks like in a community. Volunteers will receive an orientation at KHDS on the night of the event. The volunteer orientation will provide instruction on safety, confidentiality, how to approach people on the streets, documentation, and where to search in assigned areas. Volunteers are assigned to groups led by an experienced group leaders. Group leaders will guide volunteers in the community to: ? Distribute care packages ? Provide information and referral ? Conduct brief interviews ? Please join us as we celebrate the remarkable life of Ginger Helgeson. Ginger became a cherished member of the KHDS family in 2004 and was a steadfast advocate for social justice, consumer rights, and helping others access essential services. She was a beloved member of the Kenosha community and a true force for good. Her legacy will live on in all who were fortunate enough to know her. Ginger’s memorial will take place on November 22nd, from 2-4pm at the KHDS Community Room. (3536 52nd Street). Ginger’s family will be present for visitation, and we will reflect on her countless contributions and the lasting impact she made on so many lives. All wishing to come and celebrate Ginger’s life are welcome and are encouraged to share her memories and stories. Please use the far west sidewalk and entrance to come into the building. If you would like to attend the memorial, but need assistance with transportation, please email [email protected].
