Employee Spotlight: Meet Ray Casta?eda, Students in Transition (SIT) Resource Navigator
Ray Casta?eda plays a critical role in supporting some of our district's most vulnerable students as part of the Students in Transition (SIT) program. Working closely with the program coordinator, he assists with McKinney-Vento duties, identifying students who qualify as in transition, processing paperwork, and connecting families with resources. Whether it's helping unaccompanied youth or families find shelter, accessing food, or securing clothing, Mr. Casta?eda's work makes a real difference.
"Our goal is to make sure these kids know they're not alone," Mr. Casta?eda shares. "Sometimes they don't even realize help is available, and when we step in, it can change everything."
Mr. Casta?eda’s passion for his work is clear. Recently, a former student reached out to him, asking for information to share with friends in need. "It was a proud moment, knowing our efforts are having a lasting impact," he says.
For Mr. Casta?eda, supporting students goes beyond meeting immediate needs. "Our district’s mission is to ensure every student feels safe, known, and valued. If we can eliminate barriers like hunger or housing instability, we empower them to achieve their highest potential."
Mr. Casta?eda and his team often collaborate with community partners to provide referrals for housing, transportation, and other essential services. "It’s about lifting burdens. When families get the help they need, you can see the relief on their faces."
Thank you, Mr. Casta?eda, for your dedication to helping every student thrive!
