Two words: Growth and adaptation. In the fifteen years I’ve been in the nonprofit sector, I have found the organizations that thrive the most are the ones whose leaders embrace growth and adaptation. Growth can look like many things like growing programs, hiring more staff, or investing in staff’s professional growth through training. Adaptation is crucial, as most of you small nonprofit leaders know, to keep up with the times and stay ahead of the curve. I’m experiencing a lot of personal growth and adaptation right now as I prepare to have my second child in just a few weeks! In a few days I’ll be sending out my last newsletter before maternity leave that is a summary of insights gained from my recent Nonprofit Roundtable as well as thoughts on the decline of giving and how small organizations can use a growth and adaptation to move forward. I am going to be out and pausing all services from the end of May through August for this special time with my family. I am officially a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE)! ???? I’ve been working towards this certification for a while and wanting to do it for many years. This certification is important to me because 1) investing in personal growth and development is important and, 2) it’s not so much about validating my 15 years of experience as it is joining a global community of individuals dedicate to ethical fundraising. Upholding the standards of ethics put forth by Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP Global) and CFRE International for the best interest of donors and organizations is something I have always taken seriously as a nonprofit professional and a consultant. Here’s to trust, honesty, and integrity in fundraising, and doing our utmost for the organizations and fearless leaders who do so much for us!
