This weeks product spotlight is on a plastic handle project we built for one our customers. They had started this project by letting us know they needed some reverse engineering done on a sample product. Kenmold took their existing handle and was able to scan it in to be in 3D format. We then used that to create a DFM and eventually a Mold Design. The mold design was helpful because of the thickness of the part. We always strive to make quality parts for our clients as well as quality tooling. Our manufacturing team used Core & Cavity Steel: German 2738HH steel and a Mold Base: S50C for this project. We also quoted a cold runner; edge gate. We were able to complete this project and export the tooling to our client to achieve their deadlines. This is an automotive fender mold under the fitting process, which will be trialed and then exported to Europe. Mold weight is 20 Tons, with manufacturing lead time of 70 days. The mold will be shipped upon the sample parts approval, and Kenmold will run detailed inspection before shipment. This inspection includes: mold components inspection at disassembled condition, dry cycle trial out for mold structure checking, spare parts inspection and mold instruction preparing.
