Kenergy is an electric distribution cooperative. As a co-op, it is member-owned and operates on a not-for-profit basis. Net margins are put back into the co-op to help run the business efficiently, or those net margins are returned to members through a refund called capital credits. Kenergy exists to provide safe and reliable electricity at an affordable price. The cooperative was established in July 1999 through the consolidation of Henderson-Union Electric Cooperative (organized in 1936) and Green River Electric (organized in 1937). Henderson-Union was the first electric cooperative in the state to sell electricity to a member. Frank T. Street of Cardinal Farms in Henderson County received electricity from the co-op in October 1937. Kenergy has grown to serve more than 56,000 homes and businesses in Breckinridge, Caldwell, Crittenden, Daviess, Hancock, Henderson, Hopkins, Livingston, Lyon, McLean, Muhlenberg, Ohio, Union and Webster counties. The cooperative maintains more than 7,000 miles of power line.

This week marks 5 months with Adtran. Grateful to work for such an exceptional company & for the autonomy to do what I'm good at: Solve problems and support small utilities and rural broadband providers. Spent the last day and a half at Kenergy Corp in Kentucky collaborating with "friends" on broadband inequity, energy burdens, and rural community sustainability in the broadband-energy nexus space. Broadband. Energy. Technology. Homes. Here's what I know for sure: Having a reliable crew of partners, friends, and colleagues is crucial. In-person collaborations are key. A tight network? It's my secret weapon in the career game. In this fast paced world of work and travel (and work travel!), don't forget to stop and smell the roses. I mean: Stop and take a photo. I think Santa would agree (although, I suspect he may know I'm Jewish...See pic below) Alvin Razon, Tim Lindahl and someone who shall remain nameless . . .
