KenCrest hosted Rep. Greg Scott to discuss overall investment in ID/A services in the state budget. Other topics included DSP reimbursement and rates; the adverse impact of rates not being competitive enough on recruitment/retention of staff and, as a result, delivery and quality of care for the individuals we serve. KenCrest hosted 3 members of the Bridgeport delegations, Representatives Cristin McCarthy Vahey, Sarah Keitt, and Jennifer Leeper, at one of our group homes in Fairfield County, CT. Topics included DSP workforce challenges, 1:1 state staffing policy challenges, and a need for an increase for nonprofit funding for vital programs. With LifeSharing Awareness Month this past October we had the privilege of visiting Rep. Joe Ciresi yesterday at his Royersford District office. Posing with the proclamation for the month with Rep. Joe Ciresi is our very own Kathy Trumbore Director of LifeSharing, her SE LifeSharing Coalition Co Chair, and Chip Director of Government Relations and Advocacy. LifeSharing has been around at KenCrest since 1985 and our program has successfully brought together more than 140 families. This support from the government has been significant and appreciated!

Elana and Miatta from KenCrest's Lifesharing, both received mission pins for mobilizing resources and exploring possibilities. For their advocacy working in the health care community and willingness to go above and beyond for all our individuals! Their recognition is without a doubt deserving this day and every other! Annual Pennsylvania LifeSharing Conference! Elaine and Janice won the Excellence Award for the NorthEast Region!! Our very own Kathy Trumbore, KenCrest Director of Lifesharing and Kristin Ahrens, Deputy Secretary, PA DHS ODP, presented this award to Elaine and Janice. L&I announced the launch of a new program through PA Office of Vocational Rehabilitation to empower Pennsylvanians with disabilities currently earning a sub-minimum wage transition to competitive, integrated employment. With $14 million federal funding, the Integrated Vocational Engagement & Support Team (InVEST) program supports career growth for all. Sheetz, Inc. is the first InVEST employer in Pennsylvania and plans to hire 10 individuals annually. Job coaches funded by OVR will support new on-site employees and develop accommodations. Achieva will provide crucial training and resources to ensure the success of the participants at Sheetz.
