Big things are happening at Chambers Bay Golf Course as the Pierce County gem continues to make progress on its new food-and-drink hub, the Turnstand. Named for its location between the No. 1 and 10 tees and No. 9 and 18 greens, the Turnstand will replace the longstanding temporary building that's served the course since 2007 and offer a more robust menu and full bar for golfers and non-golfers alike to enjoy, as well as a front-row seat to one of Puget Sound's most picturesque views. Last year proved to be a challenging year marked by staff turnover, but Michelle stepped up when the team needed her most to lead two extremely busy properties on top of balancing her own role and responsibilities. Last weekend, we celebrated the grand opening of five baseball and softball fields at The Land at Saraland as part of the exciting ongoing development of this state-of-the-art destination for sports, entertainment and recreation in the Gulf Coast region. Together with City of Saraland officials, community members, and construction and operations partners, we hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony Friday night that included a ceremonial first pitch, tours of the facility and wiffle ball games for local kids. To properly commemorate the grand opening, 46 local youth baseball and softball teams played the first games on the fields on Saturday, where we welcomed over 2,500 players, coaches, families and fans. Our Salesperson of the Year Award recognizes outstanding sales performance, marketing innovation and contributions to the company and local community. In 2024, Buffalo Creek Golf Club's Jennifer Cushman was a star across all of the award's criteria. Not only did she lead the charge in growing annual sales, she showcased an incredible willingness to learn and adapt in a new role and industry, helping Buffalo Creek to reshape its operational practices and procedures for the better. Jennifer's strong digital marketing strategy also yielded great results across several different KPIs, strengthening the club's reputation and ties with the local community. Played across KemperSports properties since 2004, Safety National is a virtual 18-hole, par-72 golf game played four times over the course of the year with each hole designed as a safety goal. Each year at KSLC, we recognize our annual winner for the overall best score as well as the team with the most improved score. We begin this week's KSLC award winner highlights with a nod to The Country Club of St. Albans, our 2024 Retailer of the Year! Led by Head Golf Professional Curt Goss III, St. Albans' golf shop team has achieved remarkable success in growing shop sales while providing an outstanding service experience to members and guests. Over the last five years, golf shop sales have soared nearly 100%, exceeding $1 million each of the past three years. The team prides themselves on understanding market trends and executing sales strategies with precision in addition to embodying our company culture of TrueService and demonstrating a will to always go the extra mile for members. As they like to say, "The more you spend, the more you save." Sending a KemperSports family shoutout to The Country Club of St. Albans General Manager Andy Crowe, CCM,CCE,PGA (left) on achieving his Certified Chief Executive (CCE) designation from the Club Management Association of America! The CCE designation was developed to recognize those managers who have shown the ability to successfully serve as the most senior manager in a club. Andy adds this well-deserved certification to his Certified Club Manager (CCM) designation and PGA Golf Professional status that he earned years ago, all of which was accomplished while serving the St. Albans membership and leading the club to new heights. #ThisIsKemperSports

Throughout the rest of March, we’re highlighting all our 2024 award winners from last week's annual KemperSports Leadership Conference. We kick things off with the recipient of our Green to a Tee Facility Award: Winnetka Golf Club! In recognition and appreciation for the team's commitment to being leaders in environmental stewardship, this award honors the team that best implemented environmental practices and made an investment in the long-term sustainability of their facility. Last year, the team at Winnetka accomplished something no other KemperSports property has ever done before by becoming certified in all four levels of Green to a Tee, our multi-level certification and education program that focuses on environmentally friendly practices in habitat management, water and fuel conservation, energy usage and recycling, in a single year. Not to mention, they also became certified as an Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary for Golf during a busy year that saw them reopen following a successful stormwater management and renovation project.
