One Week Until #GivingTuesday ?? Imagine this: A teacher, ready to inspire students with a new science experiment, opens a closet to find old, forgotten chemicals. Dangerous. Expensive to remove. What happens next? That’s where we come in. Through the Nebraska School Chemical Cleanout Program (NESC3), we help schools safely remove hazardous substances, protecting students, staff, and communities. With your support, we’ve already safeguarded hundreds of schools. But many more need our help. This Giving Tuesday, you can be a part of the solution. Donate today and make an impact! https://lnkd.in/gfTBXQCB #NebraskaStrong #SaferSchools #KeepNebraskaBeautiful

Thanksgiving is one of the most wasteful holidays of the year when it comes to food. So to better prepare for your holiday dishes, let's discuss some sustainable shopping tips to reduce waste and care for the planet. ?? 1?? Buy Local & Organic Support local farmers by shopping at farmer’s markets or ordering a produce box. It’s better for the planet and often organic — a win-win! If you're buying a turkey, choose a local farm or opt for organic, cage-free options. 2?? Skip the Produce Bags Bring reusable produce bags, or skip them entirely. Avoid pre-cut produce in single-use plastic packaging, which often can’t be recycled. 3?? Stick to Your Shopping List It’s easy to overbuy during the holidays, but extra food often goes uneaten. Plan your meals and purchase only what you need to prevent food waste. Let’s make this Thanksgiving season joyful and eco-friendly! Do you have any sustainable holiday shopping tips? Share them in the comments! #Thanksgiving #KeepNebraskaBeautiful

Today, we honor the brave men and women who have served our country. As we reflect on their sacrifices, it’s also a great time to consider how we can respectfully retire old or worn American flags. ???? If you have fabric flags that are past their prime, you can bring them to local American Legion posts, VFWs, or even your local Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts troops for a dignified flag retirement ceremony. For synthetic flags, contact [email protected] for more information on how to recycle them. ?? Let’s all do our part to honor our flag and our veterans by disposing of old flags with the respect they deserve. #VeteransDay #FlagRetirement #Recycling #KeepNebraskaBeautiful

#AmericaRecyclesDay is next week but we're celebrating all month long with important recycling tips! Paper receipts are only recyclable sometimes so you have to be careful. Thermal receipts are the most common kind nowadays but are not recyclable or compostable because of the chemicals they contain! Scratch the receipt to test if it's thermal paper. If it turns dark, trash it but if not, feel free to recycle it! The sustainable solution is to not ask for receipts at all but if you do need them, try asking for them to be emailed, rather than printed. #Reduce #Recycle #KeepNebraskaBeautiful
