On the day of this interview, Joe had invited Dan Belk & I to his home in Charlotte, NC to see his workout space where he spent time each day maintaining his #fitness levels A remarkable man with an infectious attitude. 📢 A message for those building, designing, owning & managing #longtermliving settings for aging adults 💡2025 marks the first wave of #GenXers turning 60 💡By 2030 the entire #Boomer generation of over 70 million will be 65+ years young In case you haven't noticed OR you've chosen not to care.... 🙄 Cohorts in these two aging generations have SEISMICALLY different wants needs desires compared to the current older adults in our care 💡88% of folks betwn. 50-80 years young said they desire to age-in-place at home **according to a recent University of Michigan poll** Therefore longterm living environments being developed now have ⛰️high mountains⛰️ of generational resistence to overcome if you have ANY chance of attracting these folks into the aged-care settings you are currently (or will be soon) developing 🚫 GONE are the days of highly structured & scheduled meals in dining halls 🚫 Gone are the days where folks will be satisfied by only 1-2 meal choice options served 3 x's p/day 😵💫 #hardpass 👉 A couple of years ago, I floated the idea of alternative options for food delivery that is high-quality, fresh & always-available thru a vending-machine style delivery system This concept is already in use in many other countries. Here in the USA, we're seeing this idea in certain airports, universities & wellness locations ⁉️Why not in aged-care environments⁉️ 💡With the swipe of a card or tap of a phone.. you have an ANY hour POS occurrence This vending option from Farmer's Fridge.... ( #nonspons but open to the idea 😉 ) is an updated implementation for the next wave of agers in longterm living settings As a GenXer myself I especially love the glass jar delivery with the built in recycle option Yeesssss🎉👏 Losing the toxic plastics that land in landfills is an added eco bonus👍 📢 The "if we build it, they will come" mentality that's plagued the aged-care industry is now past it's EXPIRATION date Innovation in aged-care shouldn't only be on medication distribution & communication devices (that aren't being used) ⚠️FOOD COMPLAINTS are the #1 topic at Every Single Resident council mtng. Nothing else comes close #trustandbelieve Yet current operators have made little to zero effort to alter their operations to satisfy current consumer demands Well that dynamic ENDS with the next two Generations of potential consumers 📢 Better get on Board! ⚒️ or prepare to board-up your empty buildings 🤨 #justsayin ⁉️What do my fellow voices in this sector have to say?
