Keen is looking for experienced PT Frontend Web Developers to join our team, with the possibility FT for the right individual. Candidate will have 3+ years experience with web/application development and working in the headless web environment, specifically WP, Payload, Contentful, etc. This is a staff position with flexibility of AM and/or PM hours for PT. We highly focus on design and UX, while supporting with modern and effective code. Each project will be different for you and the quality of your code will matter greatly. You’ll contribute to existing projects, build entire projects on your own, and blend in seamlessly with our design team in an effort to collaborate and build great digital products. Responsibilities - Write and review code? - Translate full-fidelity UI prototypes to their coded counterparts faithfully - Consult with the rest of the team in regards to the feasibility, effectiveness, and efficiency of our designed solutions, and then ensure they are implemented accordingly. - Complete development tasks ranging from small feature additions to entire applications with the help of the rest of the team.? - Help to diagnose and fix bugs in production code - Work with our client's development and Dev Ops teams as necessary - Participate in team code reviews - Contribute to open-source packages - Write documentation corresponding to the projects that you are involved with. Qualifications Keen primarily focuses on React, Next & TypeScript. On occasion, we will dabble in other languages like PHP but you will be expected to work in the following technologies daily: ???Git ???React ???Node ???Express ???NextJS ???Jest ???MySQL ???MongoDB ???GraphQL We also strongly prefer candidates located within West Michigan for occasional in person collaborations. Don brings a strong background of executive leadership in SaaS, retail and health care along with diverse experience with start-ups and new product launches. In the Account Director role, Don will be responsible for leading our client service team as well as contributing to our brand strategy and consumer marketing efforts. When he's not out mountain biking, riding his own brand of skateboards or spending time with his family, you can bet you'll find him at his new home down on Stocking Avenue shaking things up at Keen Studio with his latest gang of misfits. Adam put together some great thoughts on a recent project we did in honor of national pizza day. From #naming, #branding, #webdesign and #packaging we were able to really put together a fresh take on an old classic.
In honor of #nationalpizzaday, I thought I'd share a relevant recent project we had come through Keen. -- A CULINARY MOTOWN BRANDING ASSIGNMENT In 2012, after winning ‘World Champion Pizza Maker of the Year’ with his trademark Detroit Style pizza recipe, Shawn Randazzo opened “Detroit Style Pizza Co.” on Michigan’s east side. He was a true master in his field, and taught his technique to anyone who wanted to learn. Tragically, in 2020, Shawn passed away. But his mother and business partners wanted to continue his legacy by franchising “Detroit Style Pizza Co.”. However, there was no way to trademark such a name due to its general language. Enter #keenstudio. We were brought in to rename, rebrand and relaunch the company as “Corktown Pizza Co.” An homage to the oldest neighborhood in Detroit. THE NAME Anyone who’s worked in the branding field and has had to name a company or product knows that it’s no easy challenge. Many names are generally taken (Like our first suggestion of “Dazzo’s Pizza after the founder, Shawn Randazzo). And finding a name that resonates with the owners can be just as tricky. So after about 100 or more name ideas, we landed on Corktown Pizza Co. and were very excited when it passed the trademark process. THE IDENTITY We developed a whimsical brand language based on a strong color palette of red and charcoal. Echoing the color of the tomato sauce and the crispy caramelized edges of Detroit Style Pizza. The visual language would include custom illustrations of the ingredients and other aspects of the products. Since they would also offer traditional round pizza, we incorporated that imagery into the mix as well. PHOTOGRAPHY Of course, with a new brand, photography can be hard to come by, so we had to wait until the first location was just about to open. We enticed a few employees to join us and asked the kitchen staff to prepare some camera-ready food that we could shoot. This was incorporated into the website just before the launch. THE WEBSITE We designed the website to be a true expression of the brand and built it on a Wordpress framework—using Toast for the online ordering process.?We made the site a turn-key solution for the client by giving them the ability to edit nearly any aspect of the website. PHYSICAL MATERIALS We also provided logo lockups and specifications for the location signage and interior design elements as well as the menu designs, pizza boxes, promo cards and many other physical branded items. — Projects like this are the heart and soul of Keen Studio.
