The?Kensington Corridor Trust?(KCT) is proud to present the [el]evated Stoop project, an innovative public art installation led by renowned artist,?Jordan Weber (https://lnkd.in/eKJaMJgR). This public art initiative combats environmental injustices and reimagines urban spaces as hubs of community power and ecological restoration. Combining community-led design and green infrastructure, the [el]evated Stoop serves as a catalyst for environmental awareness, fostering conversations about the intersection of art, community, and ecological well-being. As vibrant public art reclaims neglected spaces, the project will also include pollution-absorbing plants providing tangible benefits to the health of Kensington residents—breathing new life into the KCT community garden. This project is a testament to KCT’s mission of utilizing collective ownership to direct investments on the corridor that preserve culture and affordability while building neighborhood power and wealth in Kensington. We invite you to partner with us in bringing this visionary initiative to life. Learn more about the project by exploring our?video?(https://lnkd.in/eEM_a4Fw) and?project deck (https://lnkd.in/ezS92Y-H). Together, we can forge a path toward a cleaner and healthier Kensington. Go wish our Executive Director, Adriana, a happy five years with KCT! We love any opportunity to celebrate the community and our team. ?? Under her leadership the organization continues to grow with intentionality, always keeping the community values first. Cheers to you, Adriana! ????
5?? Five years! It’s hard to believe it’s already been five years since I stepped into the role of Executive Director at the Kensington Corridor Trust (KCT). What started as an ambitious vision for community-driven ownership has now become a living, breathing model for how neighborhoods can reclaim their futures using real estate as a tool. Leading KCT has been one of my career's most challenging and rewarding experiences. Over the past five years, we’ve navigated complex real estate acquisitions, built governance structures rooted in community decision-making, and worked alongside residents, business owners, and partners who believe in a more just and sustainable Kensington. This journey wouldn’t be possible without the incredible people who have supported KCT (and me!) — our Board and Trust Stewardship Committee members, staff, funders, partners, and, most importantly, the Kensington community. Thank you for believing in this work, pushing me to grow as a leader, and proving that collective ownership models can and do work. ?? There’s still so much to do, but today, I’m taking a moment to celebrate how far we’ve come. Here’s to the next five years of impact, innovation, and community ownership! #KensingtonCorridorTrust #5YearsOfImpact #CommunityOwnership #Leadership #Gratitude

We can’t wait for Unless Kids to join the businesses in Kensington ????
It was great to see our partners and future landlords Kensington Corridor Trust featured in this Next City article. KCT is hard at work renovating the future Unless Kids warehouse and we could not be happier to work with an org so aligned with our mission to create a better economy for all #philadelphians. We first met the KCT team through our partners Shift Capital who are renting us temporary space until the new warehouse renovation is complete. This is yet another example of how collaboration is driving great change in Kensington. As the article says, it's very true that KCT is building momentum on Kensington Ave. and we're very excited to be part of that momentum. Stay tuned for more updates as we prepare to move into our new home. https://lnkd.in/gqcP7evV

A few months ago, Kensington Corridor Trust (KCT) held an inspiring Strategic Planning Retreat, bringing together its two governing bodies and dedicated staff. This event was centered on reflecting on their impact over the past years and crafting a strategic vision for the next three years. I attended the retreat and created a live graphic recording capturing these discussions. KCT leverages a neighborhood trust model to maintain local control of property use and values in perpetuity while using profit to reinvest for the existing community. They embrace values-aligned development that preserves and protects the communities that make up the Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia. Through engaging conversations and collaborative vision-building, KCT lays the groundwork for an even greater impact in Kensington. Donate here to support their work! https://lnkd.in/ecwyvBvc
