Entertainment: Legendary sportscaster Bill Grigsby and the International Quartet Champions Rural Route 4 filled the night with laughter and harmonies. ?? Celebrating Black History Month: Charles "Sugar Babe" Johnson In 1953, Charles "Sugar Babe" Johnson, business representative and principal spokesman of Local 1290, played a pivotal role in labor history. Representing the Hodcarriers union, he successfully negotiated a groundbreaking union contract with the Heavy Constructors Association ending a 10 week long strike. Through perseverance and leadership, Johnson helped secure fair wages and working conditions for his members during a time when advocacy for labor and civil rights faced immense challenges.
