KCCT and Simpson Gumpertz & Heger (SGH) teamed up for #Canstruction2024 to design and build "The Dumpinator: A Can-Do Dump Truck," where food security meets heavy hauling! The theme this year at the National Building Museum was Construction Tools and Equipment. Installations are open to the public for viewing through December 2, and all canned goods used in the builds will be donated to Capital Area Food Bank to help combat hunger. #aiawashdc #districtarchitecturecenter

The Embassy of Australia has taken home three awards, including the top honour at the Australian Timber Design Awards. Tasmanian Blackwood lines the heart of our new embassy, with light filtering into the central atrium like sun through the gum trees in the Australian bush. It’s a warm and enduring reminder of home in the centre of Washington DC. Congratulations to Bates Smart and KCCT on receiving these prestigious awards.

Last month, KCCT partnered with The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company for the DCBIA Community Improvement Day to build an interactive memorial that will serve as a space of reflection and remembrance, embracing both life and death, in Washington, DC's Marvin Gaye Park. KCCT designer?Baheshta Azizi?led the team's concept design, which features a whisper tube with detached rebars as a connection point between community and earth, and wind chimes that evoke the memories of loved ones lost. A path extension of stepping stones tie the auditory experience to a gabion repository for mementos. KCCT was proud to accept three honors at the NAIOP DC|MD Awards of Excellence Ceremony, which celebrates outstanding achievement in real estate. The Embassy received the Best of the Best Interiors Award, an Award of Excellence for Best Interiors Over 75,000 SF, and an Award of Merit for Best Institutional Design. Congratulations to the project team and the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade for the realization of this powerfully evocative civic space!

The second annual ACE DC Golf Outing boasted an impressive turnout despite the gloomy weather! Members of KCCT's leadership team joined other sponsors around the industry to volunteer and participate, all in support of funding scholarships for students interested in careers in architecture, engineering, and construction.
