关于我们
Hope is more than just a wish for things to change. It’s an expectation for better things to come and a belief that each of us has the ability to make an impact. It takes the strength of a united community to dismantle inequality and enact change for a better tomorrow. Founded in 2018, KC Common Good is addressing the root causes of violence to instill hope and ensure a successful future for every individual in the greater Kansas City region. Our mission is to create an environment where all citizens can live safely and have access to real opportunities. We’re conveners and connectors, bringing together the business community, engaged citizens, community resources and key stakeholders to make an investment in societal change for our common good. We’re intermediaries who believe that the power of many creates more change than the power of a few. We’ve all been touched by violence. It’s time to change mindsets—from a place of apathy to a place of empathy. It’s time to build our community from within. It’s time to extend a hand to lift up the most vulnerable within our communities. Hope inspires change. By wrapping our arms around those who need our support the most, we stand united against violence while we work for good. Because where there’s good, there’s hope.

Last week, KC United for Public Safety hosted “Thrive and Protect: Proactive Tools to Enhance the Safety of Your Business,” in partnership with the Kansas City Chambers of Commerce, Chief Stacey Graves, and the KCPD’s Community Engagement Division. The program covered essential CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design) principles to help attendees identify and mitigate vulnerabilities in their business spaces, promoting environments that reduce risks associated with crime and vandalism. KC Common Good loves our business community and will continue championing violence prevention alongside them. Over the past two years, community organizations, residents, local businesses, elected officials, law enforcement, and additional stakeholders have been working more closely together to overcome historically segmented efforts to reduce violent crime. In 2024, a series of symposiums bridged stakeholders’ goals and vision for a safer Kansas City. KC United for Public Safety is a community-based framework that uses Omaha, Nebraska as a model, where they have seen a 70% reduction in violent crime over the past 17 years. The framework aligns various plans into one collaborative plan to address the root causes of violence today and implement evidence-based solutions for the future.
