Meet Alexandra Hisen, our Media Coordinator! "As someone who works in advertising, I always knew that being a marketer could feel like doing a misdeed. In the place I am now, I can actually instead do good- even though my physical impact may feel small, I know I'm helping to bring the community together and improve my new local community." Alexandra graduated from SJSU with a degree in Graphic Design and minor in Advertising back in 2023. During college, Alexandra volunteered with the local College of Adaptive Arts, and an east coast nonprofit- Encouraging Women Across All Borders. Alexandra loves drawing, painting, "any creative project really" and learning. She has a passion for history, archaeology, and media studies.? . . . #sanjose #bayarea #thingstodoinsj #coyotecreeksj #creekcleanup #volunteering #sanjosevolunteering #rivercleanup #kccb #bayareanonprofit?

Meet Erika Bruce on of our interns and resident blog writer! "I hope that my impact on the community through KCCB has stretched beyond just educating people but also providing the opportunity to find personal meaning and opportunities to reframe the way people lookat the world. Facts are easy to learn but it is much harder to put them to use or understand them in a way that is personal and transformative. To protect our environment we need to create new ways of seeing and being through the facts we learn about the world." Erika's field of study is comparative religion, but she she has also been working with animals in different roles for over 10 years ranging from zookeeper, canine trainer, and wildlife rehabilitation. Erika loves to do ceramics, film photography, and creative writing. As well as being outdoors and tide pooling. She also has recently taken up studying Irish Gaelic. . . . #sanjose #bayarea #thingstodoinsj #coyotecreeksj #creekcleanup #volunteering #sanjosevolunteering #rivercleanup #kccb #bayareanonprofit?

Meet Thaddeus Dickens, one of KCCB's Board Members! "I'm happy that this has given me an opportunity to serve and give back to the local communities. I don't have much of an environmental background, so I like to look at this as an opportunity to learn about that and participate. This is my first experience on a board, so it's a lot of learning, and I love being able to learn from the other great board members." Thaddeus has an MBA in Organizational Psychology and Development and a BBA in Business Administration with a concentration in management. Both from the American Intercontinental University. Outside of work, he does a lot of networking but has recently gotten into angel investing and learning about limited partnerships with venture firms. He also loves spending quality time with his growing family. . . . #sanjose?#bayarea?#thingstodoinsj?#coyotecreeksj?#creekcleanup?#volunteering?#sanjosevolunteering?#rivercleanup?#kccb?#bayareanonprofit
