???Exciting News to Share!??? Happy Friday! I'm thrilled to announce that I have officially passed the?ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity (CC)?exam! ?? But let me tell you, this journey wasn’t without its challenges. Here’s my story and some tips to help you succeed too: ?? My Journey I underestimated the exam at first and didn’t pass on my first attempt. I thought, "The foundations of cybersecurity can’t be too hard, right?" Oh, how wrong I was! ?? ???Timeline: ?? Started my cybersecurity learning journey in?January 2024. ??Took my first attempt in?May 2024?(spoiler alert: I wasn’t ready!). ??Refocused, kept learning, and finally earned my certificate today! ?? The turning point? I decided to turn failure into motivation! I: ??Completed the?Certificate of Achievement in Cybersecurity and Information Security?at Saddleback College. ??Participated in diverse challenges like?TryHackMe Hackfinity Battle,?CalPoly SWIFT RvB, and?KC7: The Cyber Detective Game CTF?to gain hands-on experience. ??Set?SMART goals?and found the right resources to help me succeed. ?? Two weeks ago, I attended the virtual SANS New2Cyber Summit 2025. Besides the fantastic talks from the presenters, I really enjoyed completing the KC7xSANS “A Day in the Life of a Threat Hunter” capture the flag event. In that CTF, I did the following: ? Investigated two cyber attacks on the fictitious company GalaxyNeura in an effort to better understand threat actor movements, TTPs, and map intrusions. ? Learned and engaged with threat hunting concepts to put them into practice to solve 44 challenges using Microsoft’s KQL (Kusto Query Language). ? Used KQL along with analytical skills to solve multiple real-world cybersecurity challenges, uncovering information about insider and external threats in two full scope investigation scenarios.
