In retrospect of President Jimmy Carter’s memorial this week, I reflect on the profound legacy he and Rosalynn Carter have left behind. Their unwavering commitment to Habitat for Humanity showed us that making a difference doesn’t require great wealth, but a generous spirit and a willingness to give. In a community like ours, where neighbors rally to support one another, the Carters’ example feels deeply personal. They reminded us that giving time, treasure, or talent—no matter how small—can create ripples of change. As Jimmy Carter once said, “My faith demands that I do whatever I can, wherever I am, whenever I can, for as long as I can to try to make a difference.” Let’s honor their legacy by carrying that spirit forward in Kittitas County.
