Meet the Board: Chrissy Smith As Chrissy Smith begins her second year on the KC Can! board, she continues to bring passion, problem-solving, and dedication to ensuring children and families have the resources they need. Her journey with KC Can! started as an Annual Auction attendee, where she saw firsthand the impact of the organization’s funding. One year, KC Can! supported Screen Sanity, a program that helps parents and caregivers guide kids through healthy screen time habits. When she later saw a flyer for the program at her daughter’s pediatrician’s office, she knew she had to get involved. Now, after an incredible first year on the board, Chrissy’s favorite memory is Giving Day, where she witnessed the direct impact of KC Can!’s funding on local nonprofits. She describes KC Can! as diligent, working hard to support organizations that truly make a difference. When she’s not volunteering, Chrissy spends as much time as possible with her family. And while she calls Kansas City home now, her Chicago roots run deep—she still makes day trips just for a hot dog and a slice of pizza. Her goal for KC Can!? To reach more organizations and raise more funds each year. And if she could have dinner with any famous duo? Shrek and Donkey, of course! Meet the Board: Zack Donnelly For the past five years, Zack Donnelly has been a driving force behind KC Can!, bringing his passion and humor to everything he does—especially when it comes to securing silent auction items. Zack joined the board to give back to the city that has given him everything, and he’s especially passionate about making sure kids have fair opportunities. His favorite memory? Seeing the faces of grant recipients on Giving Day—a moment that makes all the hard work worth it. Outside of KC Can!, Zack supports Project Uplift and Happy Bottoms, spends time with his kids, dines with his wife, exercises, plays golf, and enjoys a good book. His big goal? Helping KC Can! raise half a million dollars at a single auction.
