This week the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) issued a Notice of Intent to fund up to $900 million to support the initial U.S. deployments of Generation III+ Small Modular Reactor (SMR) technologies. This funding—made possible in part by President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law—will help strengthen America’s domestic nuclear industry and spur follow-on reactor projects, which are vital to achieving our nation's ambitious clean energy and national security goals and meeting the growing demand for clean, reliable power. The DOE Manufacturing & Energy Supply Chains Office (MESC) has programs for state governments to increase access to smart manufacturing and for state and local governments to establish or enhance ?? battery collection, #recycling, and reprocessing programs. Through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, $50 million was made available for states to accelerate the adoption of smart #manufacturing technologies among their small- and medium-sized manufacturers. Another $50 million has been made available for local #batteryrecycling projects.
