Meet Sophie Hefner, a former Division I soccer player, University of North Carolina Asheville graduate, and a blood cancer survivor. Sophie was finishing up her junior year when she was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL), a rare type of blood cancer that affects white blood cells, most common in children, teenagers, and young adults. Today, Sophie is undergoing manageable maintenance chemotherapy, allowing her to work full-time at The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society supporting others.
