  • Recently, a conversation with a friend about childhood boredom sparked an intriguing thought about adulthood and business. As a mom of two, business owner, wife, daughter, sister, and friend, I realized I haven't felt truly 'bored' since my firstborn arrived 8 years ago! ?? While adult boredom may seem like a luxury, there's immense value in creating space for our minds to wander. Just as children benefit from unstructured time to spark creativity, adults also need moments to reflect on our goals and vision for the organizations we work for. Intentional 'decompression time' can lead to breakthrough ideas. But let's face it - scheduling this time often falls to the bottom of our to-do lists. ??Need help carving out strategic thinking time? • Demystifying Market Research for Nonprofits: Who Needs It and Why? ?? Recently, someone asked me an intriguing question: "Who typically comes to you for market research?" As I reflected on this, I realized that my clients often fall into three distinct categories. Today, I'd like to share these scenarios with you, as they might resonate with your own nonprofit journey. ?? Scenario 1: The Budding Nonprofit You're at the exciting stage of launching a new nonprofit. The passion is there, the mission is clear, but you need solid ground to stand on. If you're nodding your head, you might be looking for: ??A comprehensive view of the current landscape ??Insights into organizations offering similar services and what sets them apart ??Opportunities for collaboration within your space ??A deep understanding of your target audience - their needs, challenges, and how to reach them effectively This foundational research can be the difference between a strong start and a struggle to gain traction. ?? Scenario 2: The Established Nonprofit Ready for Growth You've been in the game for a while, and you're ready to expand your impact. This might look like: ??Introducing new programs or resources ??Launching a fresh campaign or initiative Even with your existing experience, targeted market research can provide the insights needed to ensure your new endeavors are aligned with your audience's needs and the current nonprofit landscape. ?? Scenario 3: The Nonprofit Seeking Clarity Perhaps you hit the ground running a few years ago, fueled by passion and urgency. But now you're finding that: ??You need comprehensive information to strengthen your grant applications ??Your impact isn't quite what you expected, and you need to reassess your approach In this case, market research can help you take a step back, understand the current landscape, analyze your competitors, and reconnect with your audience's needs. It's never too late to gather this crucial information! ?? Why Market Research Matters Regardless of which scenario resonates with you, market research is not just a box to tick—it's a powerful tool that can: 1. Inform strategic decision-making 2. Help you allocate resources more effectively 3. Increase your chances of securing funding 4. Improve your programs' relevance and impact 5. Guide your messaging and outreach efforts Remember, in the nonprofit world, understanding your landscape and audience isn't just good practice—it's essential for maximizing your impact and fulfilling your mission. ?? Let's Connect! Do you see your nonprofit in one of these scenarios? Or perhaps you have a unique situation that calls for market research? I'd love to hear about it! Drop me a message, and let's discuss how we can equip your organization with the insights it needs to thrive. #NonprofitStrategy #MarketResearch #SocialImpact #NonprofitGrowth #DataDrivenDecisions

I had a discovery call the other day and the Executive Director said to me, “I know what the big picture of this project looks like but I don’t know all of the steps that need to be taken to get there.” When you have a project but it’s out of your zone of genius or you just don’t have the time to think about all of the steps and logistics- it can feel paralyzing to figure out how to communicate your needs to someone. In addition, if you don’t have a plan, how can you manage someone, set expectations, define deliverables, etc? That is why you hire a consultant. The point of a discovery call with a consultant is understanding the nature of the project. The consultant should know what the next steps are that is needed. If they are an expert in that specific area, they will see potential challenges and bring up areas you might not have considered. This is the consultants area of expertise. This is their job. You do not need to have it all together to book a discovery call with a consultant. When I work with clients, I guide them through the process. I have a clear workflow, I communicate what I need from them to move forward, they know specific points where we will be communicating, and deadlines for deliverables. Finding the right consultant that can support you in your project means that it’s not all on you anymore. You have someone by your side that will help you get to the finish line. Do you have upcoming projects that involve marketing strategy, community engagement, data visualization or market research? Book a free discovery call with me here so we can chat about it! https://bit.ly/3EVSZu2 #consultant?#publichealth?#marketingstrategy?#communityengagement?#nonprofit
