Dean and Professor Syracuse Architecture, Administrator Higher Education, Higher Education Research and Branding
Please join us on Thursday, October 10 at 5:30 pm in the Slocum Hall Atrium for a lecture by Syracuse Architecture Fall 2024 Visiting Critics Katherine Hogan, AIA?and Vincent Petrarca, AIA, owners and principals, Katherine Hogan Architects in Raleigh, North Carolina. Katherine Hogan, a 2005 Syracuse Architecture graduate (B. Arch), is a Syracuse Architecture Advisory Board member and has been a Visiting Critic at the school since 2015. Their lecture, entitled "Working Backwards," will focus on Katherine Hogan Architects’ hybrid approach to practice. The firm started with small design-build commercial and residential projects and has grown its portfolio to include projects for public schools, universities, state parks, and nonprofits. Often the product of modest but impactful interventions, the designs reflect the firm's explorations of assembly, tectonic craft, and resourcefulness. The firm has produced an impressive and diverse body of work, and has received AIA awards at the local, state, and national level for innovative design solutions to complex problems and for using ordinary materials in inventive ways.
