Maternal and infant health inequities remain a significant challenge in the United States, disproportionately affecting historically marginalized communities. Urban Institute--in collaboration with Policies for Action (P4A), a research program of RWJF--is hosting a hybrid discussion to explore evidence, experience, and policy considerations to achieve maternal and infant health equity.

关于我们
We work to improve the health and quality of life of residents in Forsyth County and around the state. Kate Bitting Reynolds established the Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust in 1947 to improve the quality of life and health of residents throughout North Carolina. During her lifetime, she worked to ensure everyone—regardless of race, gender, or income—had access to health care, quality education, and economic opportunity. Few women of her day were as outspoken about the issues facing residents with low incomes. Today, the issues Mrs. Reynolds cared about remain urgent and interconnected. We are excited to announce our our new strategy to support outcomes over specific issues. We are committed to supporting promising and proven programs that can be scaled up, and to promoting equity—to ensure success for people too often left behind.

United Way of Forsyth County is a critical supporter of organizations working to improve people's lives in our hometown of Winston-Salem. They support nonprofits working in economic mobility, student success, housing and neighborhood revitalization, and more. ZSR recently committed $100,000 to these efforts, joining Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust and The Winston-Salem Foundation to help ensure United Way and the nonprofits they support can continue their important work.

Work requirements are based on harmful stereotypes tied to race, gender, disability and class, disregarding the fact that most adults with Medicaid work. They fail to account for barriers to work like health conditions, care giving responsibilities, unstable low-wage jobs, labor market discrimination, and insufficient child care or paid leave. Learn more about how these requirements produce additional barriers that disproportionately impact communities in need of care the most. https://bit.ly/3EfpxSG

“It is reasonable to have policy debates about immigration. It is reasonable to have policy debates about how to handle crime and border security. It is not reasonable – or humane – to create policies of fear that have everyone, whether they have legal status or not, living in a constant state of panic.” Read more from the Z.
