The Pre-K Priority joined the FFN Steering Committee Systems Change Retreat to collaborate with an incredible network of stakeholders supporting Family, Friend, and Neighbor (FFN) caregivers. We reflected on the progress of FFN Care initiatives and set strategic goals for 2025—working toward a unified community agenda that values FFN providers as essential to the child care system. MyFriendBen-NC, developed by our partners at Code the Dream, empowers people to find out about benefits they might be eligible for and apply on their own or with support. The tool is user-friendly, available in 12 languages, and results are more than 90% accurate. After using MyFriendBen-NC, clients will receive a customized benefit report with estimated cash value, time needed to apply, and information about navigators who can assist with applications. Many families in Forsyth County struggle to access affordable, high-quality child care, with only one-third of the county’s 4,500 four-year-olds enrolled in publicly funded Pre-K programs. The Pre-K Priority addresses these challenges by advocating for increased investment in Pre-K and engaging businesses to support families in reaching their full potential.
