We are excited to announce that Korea Zinc Company, Ltd (????) (KRX:010130), the world's leading non-ferrous smelting company has acquired Kataman. Kataman brings new capabilities and resources for Korea Zinc's recycling value chain, an important part of the company's new growth engine, and is expected to further accelerate Korea Zinc's copper businesses.? Through Kataman, Korea Zinc can secure raw materials for its copper production facilities, electronic waste facilities, and secondary battery facilities. Commenting on the acquisition, Kataman CEO Joseph Reinmann said "I’m very excited about the potential this acquisition unlocks for us in the years to come. Together, with our dedicated employees, we will form a stronger business, drive further growth and innovation, and create more value for Korea Zinc and our existing customers." #KoreaZinc #Kataman #Sustainability #Recycling #Copper
Korea Zinc decided to acquire Kataman Metals LLC, a U.S.-based scrap metal trading company, for USD 55 million (about KRW 74 billion) to expand the recycling business, one of the Troika Drive initiatives. Korea Zinc will complete the acquisition of Kataman’s 100% stake through Pedalpoint Holdings, a U.S. subsidiary. Kataman retails about 300,000 tons of scrap metals such as waste copper and aluminum. Its annual trading value averaged about USD 1.5 billion during the recent three years. Korea Zinc is set to complete the expansion of copper production facilities at the Onsan Refinery in the first half of 2025, which requires an additional supply and demand of 130,000 tons of scrap raw materials per year. “We look forward to establishing a stable recycling value chain by securing more raw materials to be put into the newly expanded copper production facility," said a Korea Zinc official. #KoreaZinc #Kataman #Sustainability #Recycling
