Kataly moves resources to support the power of Black & Indigenous communities, & all communities of color.

关于我们

The Kataly Foundation moves resources to support the economic, political, and cultural power of Black and Indigenous communities, and all communities of color. By transforming our relationship to capital, the planet, each other, and ourselves, we will redistribute and redefine wealth in a way that leads to transformation, abundance, and regeneration. Our vision is a world in which Black and brown people have the resources, power, and agency to execute their own visions for justice, well-being, and shared prosperity within their communities. We believe our fates are intertwined and ensuring self-determination for communities of color is in service of our collective liberation.

Last week, LCF held our second Latino Capital Accelerator retreat, bringing together Latino changemakers to sharpen their storytelling, pitching, and fundraising skills while building a strong and supportive community with mentors, funders, and cohort members. This retreat was a powerful step toward expanding access to capital and strengthening the infrastructure of Latino-led nonprofits that are dedicated to unlocking the potential of Latino entrepreneurs across California.? ?? LCF is unleashing economic power through our values of love, culture, and power. Economic justice is about stopping, reversing, and ending disinvestment in the economic well-being of Latinos. We know that when Latinos thrive, entire communities prosper.? ?? With over five million Latino-owned businesses contributing $800 billion to the U.S. economy, Latino entrepreneurs are a driving force in the national economic landscape. Their businesses are growing faster than any other demographic, with nearly one in four new businesses being Latino-owned. Yet, despite this momentum, access to capital remains one of the biggest barriers to success.? ?? The Latino Capital Accelerator is changing that narrative. By equipping leaders with the tools, knowledge, and network to secure the funding they need, this program is ensuring that Latino entrepreneurs have the resources to thrive. This retreat was about building power, securing capital, and creating lasting change for our communities.? ?? Thank you to our cohort Inclusive Action for the City, TMC Community Capital, Viva Foundation Organization, Fresno Area Hispanic Foundation, Creser Capital Fund, El Pájaro Community Development Corporation for filling us with hope and the fuel to continue building the equitable, just future our families deserve. Thank you to our funding partners who joined us as mentors The James Irvine Foundation, Kataly Foundation, BMO, JPMorganChase, Wells Fargo, Citi, Cameo, NALCAB, APCO WORLDWIDE, INC., and SUMA Wealth!?

  • Vanessa Priya Daniel, founder and organizer and member of the Environmental Justice Resourcing Collective at Kataly, has announced a 10 city book tour with a powerful lineup of conversation partners to launch Unrig the Game: What Women of Color Can Teach Everyone About Winning (Random House, 2025). Drawing on interviews with 45 women of color leaders across U.S. social justice movements and her own insights from 15 years in leadership, she shares what makes so many women of color powerful leaders, what is blocking and weathering them (at great cost to movements), and what we can all do about it. Vanessa shares, “It has never been more critical to flank our best and brightest movement leaders – so many of whom are women of color – than it is as we head into the fight of our lives against fascism. The future is feminist, decolonized, sustainable, fair and kind. We are undeterred in seeking it, and we will need our full strength.” Information about the events and links to RSVP at https://lnkd.in/gHUzaFkE??

Check out the latest article in Alliance magazine featuring Kataly Foundation CEO Nwamaka Agbo, who discusses the important role of women leaders in spend-down (spend-out) philanthropy. As the need for equitable resource distribution grows, Nwamaka highlights how women are making significant contributions to transformative change within the philanthropic sector. Highlight from the article: "I don’t want to essentialise women leaders as embodying a certain set of traits’, says Nwamaka Agbo, CEO of?Kataly Foundation, a family foundation set up in 2018 with an endowment of $445 million, intending to spend down within ten years. Nwamaka reflects on her own lived experience as a queer Black woman, ‘I intimately understand how people and communities have experienced harm from people in power. Because of that understanding, I do my best to lead from a place of empathy’. Experiences of oppression and injustices may indeed be more commonly shared by women in society." --Nwamaka Agbo Explore the voices of women leaders who are shaping the future of philanthropy by reading the full article here: https://lnkd.in/g2WQYjSs. #Philanthropy #WomenLeaders #SocialChange #KatalyFoundation
