Many patients struggle with hunger cues that feel unpredictable. Some days, they barely feel hungry. Other days, they can't seem to get enough food. They may skip meals and crash later, feeling exhausted, irritable, and shaky. Others feel disconnected from their body, unsure when or how much to eat. This isn’t about willpower. Hunger cues can be disrupted by stress, ADHD, trauma, sleep, and inconsistent eating patterns. At Karuna, we help patients rebuild trust in their bodies by focusing on:? ? Consistent nourishment to stabilize hunger patterns? ? Non-judgmental awareness of hunger and fullness cues? ? A compassionate approach to eating, without guilt or shame Hunger cues aren’t broken. They just need support.

What role does a Registered Dietitian play in eating disorder recovery? ?? If you’re a healthcare provider, you might wonder how an RD fits into your patients’ recovery journey. It’s not about handing out meal plans or setting rigid food rules. Our work goes far deeper—it’s about rebuilding trust: ? Trust with food: Helping patients navigate fear and overwhelm around eating.? ? Trust with their bodies: Supporting them to tune into their needs without judgment.? ? Trust with themselves: Empowering them to believe in their capacity to heal on their own terms. Recovery is challenging, but with the right team in place, it becomes less overwhelming.
