Last Wednesday, we held our first mini internal NEST event of the semester, which included a presentation and networking portion and an elevator pitch/speed sell competition, with Karr Barth Associates of Equitable Advisors! We wanted to extend a huge thank you to Shannon Maguire, Raymond Vandegrift, and Shane Milam for coming out to host and participate in such a successful night. It involved the chance to network and the opportunity to showcase our elevator pitches for the chance to win prizes! They gave us a presentation on what Karr Barth Associates does, as well as their roles at the company, and what makes someone successful in a sales role. We appreciated all of their advice, insight, and thoughtful stories about each of their experiences within their professional roles. Congratulations to Mitchell Jackson, Alexis Ranieri, and Charles Huber for placing first through third in the elevator pitch competition, delivering with confidence and poise! It was great to be with so many terrific members of the profession outside Philadelphia at the Karr Barth Associates, Private Client Group Advisors meeting. Terrific discussion about how holistic financial plans are better for consumers! I always enjoy spending time with Timothy Maguire, CFP?, CLU who is an amazing leader in the profession and a terrific member of Finseca Board of Directors. It was wonderful to see David Karr, Shannon Maguire, Kristeen McConnell, and so many terrific people who want to, as Michael Stasko eloquently stated: “help their clients make better financial decisions.” There’s no question that this leading Equitable Advisors firm is committed to advancing the cause of #financialsecurityforall. Congratulations on a well deserved promotion to Vice President Jameson Donahue!!
Full circle moment last week. This picture was taken on the 18th green at Overbrook Golf Course. This is where I caddied for 7 years, met some great friends, was awarded my J. Wood Platt Scholarship (which paid for 6 semesters of college for me). 8 years ago, I caddied for Timothy Maguire, CFP?, CLU, and he asked me what I was going to do after I graduated on this very green (I was still a senior and I had no Idea). He hired me and I haven't looked back since. I also met Jameson Donahue at this Club- who became an instant best friend but also my very first hire on my team over 4 years ago. We played last week to celebrate Jameson getting promoted to Vice President here at Equitable Advisors. Matthew Johnston, CFP? is also in this picture who has had so much influence over us in our Retirement Benefits Division at Karr Barth Associates. Just a good reminder that relationships you build are the best wealth in this life. If you want to go fast go alone- if you want to go far go together. (Something like that) Jameson and I are still growing- we have been building a team of Financial Advisors in the Philadelphia area.
