关于我们

At Kapor Capital, we invest in seed stage startups that close gaps of access, expand economic opportunity and make a positive impact in our society and the economy. Our entrepreneurs come from all backgrounds, with a special focus on people of color, women, and other historically underrepresented groups who are inspired by their lived experience to shape the future and inform the questions they ask and the problems they identify that give rise to profitable, tech-driven solutions. We are an Oakland-based fund that understands that start-up companies have the ability to transform entire industries and believe that startups can leverage information technology to solve real world problems and tangibly improve the lives of millions through innovations in the fields of education, finance, health, work, justice and more.

    Co-Founder at AnswersNow

Important story from Laura Lovett at Behavioral Health Business. Medicaid is a last line of defense for millions of people that need mental and behavioral health support. As she noted in her piece - Medicaid is the #1 payer for children and pediatric patients, and an outsized portion of those with autism rely on Medicaid. We’ve seen that firsthand here at AnswersNow, where more than 70% of our families are covered by Medicaid - many of whom already had to suffer through months-long waitlists and delayed critical care before finding our virtual services. With Medicaid already instituting caps on ABA support in some states, any fresh cuts would put them at severe risk. As an industry, we need to take a stronger stance with our representatives and regulators. How can we justify cuts that deprive children of the chance to learn how to communicate, interact with their peers, or build essential life skills that empower them to navigate the world around them? We’ve watched as our ABA therapy has helped children learn their first words, how to brush their teeth, and how to sit through an entire school day. One parent even shared that, thanks to their child's progress, their family was able to leave the house together for the first time in over three years. Medicaid is the lifeline that makes this possible and must be preserved. Our leaders in Washington would do well to remember that these are real people with real challenges - not faceless numbers on a spreadsheet. https://lnkd.in/dfpw3ZJa

Making housing both more affordable & more profitable at the same time.

The fastest fix for housing insecurity? Empty bedrooms. Millions of rooms sit vacant while cities spend billions on slow-to-build affordable housing. Instead, they could pay homeowners $5K-$50K to rent out spare rooms—creating 10-25x more units for the same cost as one apartment. The models exist. The demand exists. Cities just need the will to act. It’s time to stop ignoring the obvious solution. Let’s unlock housing. ?? #housingcrisis #affordablehousing #padsplit #oneroomatatime #housing

    CEO and Founder at tEQuitable

Conflict resolution skills are top of mind for today's CHROs. tEQuitable and I are at #HRTransform this week. I'm mostly attending sessions in the "Culture" track and it's really interesting to see the work that's being done, and also how far there is still to go. So far, the biggest theme is: lack of conflict resolution skills is the biggest gap that currently exists -- for individual contributors and, especially, for managers. The stats on how time consuming workplace conflict is both for employees and for the HR Team, as well as its impact on employee engagement and productivity are being recognized as critical to address. Obviously not a surprise to me since that is our main focus and is an obvious driver in organizational success. In fact, an alternate definition for Organizational Ombuds I often use is: Interpersonal Conflict Coach. Hit me up if you want to chat about how conflict might be affecting your workplace. Happy to discuss various ideas and strategies.

Doing my part to ensure mass EV adoption. #chargedup

This past week has been full of milestones that remind me how far this work has come. Evette Ellis and I were honored by Inc. Magazine for our contributions to #EV charging reliability and for producing the nation’s first EV Charging #Reliability Report. I was also recognized by my council district and the City of Los Angeles for our work in building the EVSE Technician Training Program in partnership with Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator (LACI) ensuring that as the industry grows, so do real #job opportunities. And today, ChargedEV featured the next evolution of ChargerHelps Managed Service—Reliability as a Service, now with a #guarantee. What’s exciting about this moment isn’t just the progress in EV charging reliability—it’s that this work is moving beyond the EV industry’s inner circle. More people outside of the industry are paying attention. As EV adoption grows, so does public awareness of what it takes to keep these systems working. Reliability isn’t just a technical issue—it’s a #consumer issue, a #transportation issue, and an #infrastructure issue that affects all of us. That’s why we launched a Managed Service that includes labor costs and unlimited site visits—because reliability shouldn’t be an afterthought. And after three years of running Reliability as a Service, here’s what we’ve learned: 1. The right partnerships make all the difference. Not all hardware and software are created equal, and the companies that prioritize reliability stand out. 2. 98%+ uptime is achievable. Even with out-of-warranty hardware, we’ve shown that when businesses are committed to fixing issues, customers don’t have to worry about whether a charger will work. This next step—a guarantee—is about holding ourselves and our partners accountable. We’re not making blanket promises. We’re standing behind partners who have proven they prioritize reliability, backed by real data. I’m proud of this shift, not just because it strengthens the industry, but because it signals something bigger—EV reliability is becoming part of the mainstream conversation. The more people understand what it takes to maintain charging infrastructure, the better decisions we can make as an industry and as a society. Thank you, ChargedEV , for featuring me and helping to bring this conversation to a broader audience. Looking forward to what’s ahead! https://lnkd.in/gciGYEE7

CEO of Puzzle and host of the Turpentine Finance podcast. YC, ODF, Village Global alumni.

Founders, your back office shouldn’t slow you down. Now, it won’t. How much time are you spending on bookkeeping, reconciliations, or waiting for reports? If it’s more than zero, it’s too much. The best founders focus on fundraising, hiring, scaling—not chasing numbers. But messy financial ops keep too many startups stuck in the weeds. That changes today: ? Your numbers update in real-time—no more chasing reports ? Banking, payroll & expenses sync automatically—no more manual reconciliation ? Automated financial insights—so you can make decisions faster When Every set out to build the ultimate back-office for startups, they had one goal: Make financial admin disappear. With Every + Puzzle ????, founders finally get a finance stack that works for them, not the other way around. No more clunky systems. No more month-end fire drills. Just seamless automation that scales with you. What’s the most frustrating back-office task you’d kill today? Drop it in the comments.?

The data tells an interesting story about universal mental health screening in schools, and it's actually encouraging. After tracking a full year of screening, we found something surprising - fewer than 3% of students end up needing referrals to outside clinical care. Why so low? Many struggling students were already getting help through school services, IEPs, 504 plans, small group work, or regular check-ins. We just didn't have a way to see the full picture until now. For districts worried about overwhelming limited provider resources - this should come as a huge relief. At Maro, we're helping schools make sense of this data, identify where the gaps really are, and connect families with the right care faster - whether that's a local provider, quality virtual options, or something the school can handle directly. The end result? Better outcomes for kids without crushing an already stretched system. It's time to move past the fear.....this is WORKING! #StudentWellness #MTSS #EducationLeadership #MentalHealthMatters #EdTech #K12Education #TeacherLife #Classroom #Learning #Education, #EdLeadership
