Yesterday, we had the privilege of speaking at the Future Identity Festival in London! ? Our insightful panel featured Dr Sarah Walton, Kay Chopard, Louise Maynard-Atem, and Edgar Whitley, who delved into the critical topics of electronic equity and the profound effects of ID exclusion on people and businesses alike. ?? Key takeaways: ?? Louise Maynard-Atem on accessibility: “Digital-first makes sense, but we cannot risk going digital-only. For those who can’t access digital services, we must ensure offline options are available.” ?? Louise Maynard-Atem on unconscious bias: "We all have our own biases, meaning we often design for ourselves. We need to be aware of the blind spots - that is what the #IDCodeOfConduct can achieve." ?? Kay Chopard on inclusion: “It’s a complex issue we cannot ignore. Our ultimate goal is to serve as many people as possible.” ?? Edgar Whitley on the progress of Phase 3 of the #IDCodeOfConduct "We have completed 40 interviews, and have over 300,000 words of data so far." ?? Dr Sarah Walton raised a crucial question on prioritization when it comes to building ID Solutions. When building ID solutions, should we design for the 80% who can more easily access services, or focus on the 20% who face unique challenges—such as people who are unhoused—that make accessing IDs more difficult? The panels perspective? Of course it varies, but building for the 20% means building a truly universal solution, benefiting everyone, including the 80% who can more easily access digital ID solutions. The 20% are potential contributors to the economy. Excluding them isn’t just unfair; it’s a missed financial opportunity for organizations. What do you think? #WomenInID #DiversityByDesign #ForAllByAll #inclusion

Should we design for the 80 or the 20? Great discussion from the #WomenInIdentity team today at the #FutureIdentityFestival “We need to reframe the problem of designing for #inclusion from being something that is difficult to do - if morally right. Instead, if we can find innovative ways to verify vulnerable or excluded groups, we’ll open a whole new market and unknown opportunities.” Louise Maynard-Atem Edgar Whitley Dr Sarah Walton “Inclusion is worth it” Kay Chopard

#Interoperability in #digitalidentity relies on a fundamental #trust between a government and its citizens. Regardless of what identity technology can do, #harmonisation of standards and processes will always be hard. Cultural alignment between partners needs to be in place. But interoperability success will only come when standards are accepted and applied into #innovation at design & development stage! Great session at #FID ??
