The Kansas Board of Regents has partnered with the Kansas Hospital Association to launch the Kansas Health Care Micro-Internship Project. This grant-funded project allows students currently enrolled in any Kansas public community or technical college, and high school students at least 18 years old and completing one or more dual or concurrent enrollment courses, to apply to KHA for a "micro-internship." Kansas Health Care Micro-Internships are short-term, paid assignments designed to increase student awareness of the rewarding health care career opportunities available throughout the state. https://lnkd.in/gPG-izv3

Kansas’s efforts to improve maternal health were spotlighted in Kansas City this week at a meeting of the American Hospital Association’s forum for state hospital association quality leaders. The meeting, hosted by the Kansas Hospital Association and Missouri Hospital Association at the Children’s Mercy Research Institute, included a maternal health panel discussion. The panel, moderated by Dan Cranshaw, Executive Director, KC Health Collaborative, featured experts from the Kansas, Missouri and District of Columbia Perinatal Quality Collaboratives. Dr. Cara Busenhart, a Certified Nurse-Midwife, Clinical Associate Professor, and the Program Director for Midwifery Education at the University of Kansas School of Nursing, shared the work of the Kansas Perinatal Quality Collaborative. Over 40 Kansas birthing hospitals representing more than 93 percent of the births in Kansas participate in the KPQC, continually working to improve maternal health outcomes.?

At the #KHAConvention we recognized the graduating class of the KHA Leadership Institute. This program was established to help hospitals provide professional development opportunities that enhance the personal skills and abilities needed to facilitate positive change and innovation in Kansas hospitals. The group of 30 students graduating were nominated by their hospital’s CEO to be part of this program. They were selected because their hospital recognized their potential to be future leaders. Congratulations everyone!
