It takes all kinds of kinds – and that’s true in agriculture, too. Growing agriculture means working together with various groups of people to find common ground (pun intended). The work in 2023 by the Kansas legislature to allocate additional funding to preserve the Ogallala Aquifer took work from municipalities, farmers, ranchers, legislators and agricultural advocacy groups. Lavender fields are blooming with purpose in Wyandotte County, offering healing and hope through agriculture. Lavender Hill Farm is more than just a fragrant escape — it’s part of a mission to provide restoration and support for survivors of human trafficking. “Some of the people who have come to this lavender field have told us how they feel so loved here,” says farm owners Joe and Jenny Steineger, who partners with organizations to help victims find peace and purpose. Through agriculture and compassion, this Kansas farm is cultivating more than crops — it’s growing hope. Learn more at https://lnkd.in/gG-RsRzS. #AgDay25 #NationalAgWeek #myksfarmlife

Cotton acres are on the rise in the Sunflower State as producers tap into new opportunities and sustainable practices. Talan Shinn is part of a growing wave of producers turning to cotton as a sustainable and profitable crop. “Cotton is a fun crop to learn about and grow and it’s always teaching me something new,” Shinn says. “It’s really an amazing crop and a resource we can continue to grow.” Talan and the growing number of gins in the state are helping grow the cotton industry, one cotton boll at a time. Even on the coldest days in brutal Kansas winters, families like the James in Clay County are dedicated to caring for their animals. Their sheep herd is their top priority, especially during lambing season, ensuring ewes and babies alike are safe and comfortable. “Watching these ewes be good moms and hearing the low-pitched bleat they make to their babies is so sweet,” KaCee James says. Happy National Ag Day from Kansas Farm Bureau! While every day is ag day to us, we’re especially in a celebratory spirit today. Thank you to the farmers and ranchers in Kansas and beyond who provide the food, fuel and fiber that feed our state, nation and world — and here in Kansas, we have a lot to be proud of. ?? Kansas is a top producer of wheat, sorghum and soybeans, providing essential grains for bread, feed, fuel and so much more. ?? More cattle than people and proud of it. We rank third in the nation for cattle and calves, with more than 6.3 million head — that’s more than twice the state’s population. ?? Kansas is the Wheat State, producing enough wheat each year to bake more than 36 billion loaves of bread — enough for everyone on Earth to enjoy multiple loaves. From wheat fields, soybean rows and even cotton bolls, Kansas is diverse and productive. Agriculture is Kansas’ No. 1 economic driver and the backbone of rural communities. • Sarah and Nathan Kells are fifth-generation farmers in Haskell County. Together, they are growing agriculture by caring for their land, their animals and their employees with hard work, respect and unwavering dedication. “Caring for our animals is our main job. Our customers trust us to provide excellent care to their animals while they are here,” Nathan says. “That includes specialists who scientifically balance diets, herdsmen who understand reproduction and employees who provide care and feed in a timely matter every day. Dairy heifers are unique animals, and everything we do is focused on growing them in the correct manner, breeding them on time and preparing them to return home ready to make healthy, safe milk.” Learn more about the Kells at https://lnkd.in/gdpa_iKA. #AgDay25 #NationalAgWeek #myksfarmlife
