This Friday, we're flashing back to when The Community Solution Education System Chancellor Michael Horowitz, Ph.D., met student doctor Alex Palacios. As a #FirstGen #Immigrant student, Alex is a recipient of the Dr. Michael Horowitz & Dr. Jeannie Gutierrez Immigrant/First Generation Scholarship program. Alex spent seven years in health care and joined the U.S. Air Force before matriculating to Kansas Health Science University. We're excited to watch Alex's educational journey!

Although A.T. Still, MD, DO, introduced osteopathic medicine during a vastly different time and health care landscape, his philosophy and teachings remain incredibly relevant today. Learn how here: https://ow.ly/hvA350Uaols

Our campus was proud to host the Kansas Association of Osteopathic Medicine (KAOM) 2024 Mid-Year CME Conference featuring local physicians and KansasCOM faculty as presenters! The conference offered valuable opportunities for medical professionals to network and share knowledge to ultimately benefit Kansas patients and communities. KansasCOM students took part in the event by presenting their research posters. Attendee Jerry Gaston, DO, KHSU board member and KAOM member, praised the event and the campus as a great venue for bringing family physicians together and promoting osteopathic principles.

On #VeteransDay, we reflect on the longstanding link between the medical field and the military. From medical teams delivering care in active war zones to providing care when military members return home, we’re thankful for their service.

We love being in the heart of downtown Wichita. Our students and staff volunteers had a blast attending the Open Streets ICT community-building event! Our student clubs engaged community members by offering card-making activities for children in hospitals, CPR demonstrations, and blood pressure checks.

We were thrilled to demonstrate point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) devices for the talented paramedic students at Cowley College. These small ultrasound tools are a big step forward in providing on-the-spot imaging that can be crucial in EMS situations. As more paramedics are trained and as the devices become more accessible, their use in pre-hospital settings will expand to provide better patient outcomes. In the workshop, the Cowley students learned about scanning lungs, hearts, and veins for guided IV insertions.
