??Is It Time for the Development Sector to Rethink Its View on Small and Medium Enterprises? ??? In Episode 3 of the?Audacity & Action?podcast, we dive into a crucial question: Are outdated perspectives on the potential of SMEs—especially agri-SMEs—holding back economic growth in developing regions? For example, despite producing nearly 80% of food in many areas and being a significant employer, agri-SMEs often find themselves significantly underserved by development organizations and financial institutions. Why is that? More importantly, can this change, and how? Our Founder and CEO, Edna Massay Kallon, sits down with Ade Freeman, a globally respected voice in agri-food systems and private sector development with leadership experience at the United Nations, The World Bank, CGIAR, and International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI). Together, they explore how shifting the lens on SMEs, particularly agri-SMEs, and how they are empowered could unlock transformative growth and sustainable impact. ??? ???5 Minute Stories From the Road: Lessons in Resilience??? At?Kalena Global, we believe in forming connections—getting to know the people we meet and hearing the stories that shape their lives. These stories inspire us, especially when they reflect the resilience and determination that drive individuals to create a better future for themselves. While traveling in Southeast Asia, for tourism, our Founder & CEO,?Edna Massay Kallon, had the pleasure of meeting?Leap Hang, a tour guide in Siem Reap, Cambodia. During a conversation, Edna mentioned her prior work with The World Bank, to which Leap instantly responded, “Oh, The World Bank! I received funds from a project they sponsored when I was a child. It helped me a lot!” Curious to learn more, Edna asked if she could capture his story. Leap shared a powerful reflection:?“I only changed the strategy for reaching my goal, but I didn’t give up.”?His words remind us of the importance of flexibility, perseverance, and staying committed to our dreams—even when the path takes unexpected turns. Join us in celebrating stories like Leap’s—stories that fuel our mission at Kalena Global to empower individuals and communities for generations to come. Keep an eye out for more of these inspiring moments in our new series,?5 Minute Stories From the Road. Because these stories are captured in the moment, the sound quality might vary, but the message of resilience and determination will always shine through.?? #Resilience #GlobalStories #Empowerment #KalenaGlobal #5MinuteStories #TravelWithPurpose
