Last month, our Digital Asset Lead Javier Garcia Nonay had the privilege of sharing insights at Merge Madrid about Kaleido’s collaboration with Banco Central do Brasil on the groundbreaking #DREX project. This initiative is shaping the future of digital currencies. Kaleido is proud to have played a role in Drex development as a key partner to Banco Central do Brasil and Febraban in the Drex phase 1 that began in 2023, for the Drex Besu infrastructure, financial smart contacts, and EVM privacy investigations. A key highlight of the talk was exploring the future of privacy for EVM-based networks. As blockchain technology advances, the ability to provide strong, programmable privacy will be essential for fostering trust and driving adoption in the digital currency space. The next step to composable finance and programmable privacy for enterprise blockchain is enabled by the recently launched Paladin, an open-source initiative in The Linux Foundation Decentralized Trust, providing programmable privacy for EVM. It gives enterprises control of sensitive information without compromising transparency or scalability. Paladin solves the challenge of global state visibility—the largest barrier to date for enterprise blockchain adoption. With Paladin, teams can create flexible privacy rules, link composable workflows seamlessly across any unmodified EVM chain, and leverage new privacy-preserving smart contracts. Learn more at paladinprivacy.org and upcoming webinar:https://lnkd.in/ekHYxTcx . The Paladin code base is open source, Apache 2.0 licensing and is maintained in an open source community that provides open governance and open development as part of Linux Foundation Decentralized Trust. It also includes the previously released Hyperledger Zeto ZKP code contribution. Thanks to everyone who attended the talk! #mergemadrid #drex #lfdecentralizedtrust #privacy #assettokenization #blockchain #dlt

?? Live Reporting: It’s a wrap……and what a couple of days it has been! Along with Jana Mackintosh and the judges we are thrilled to announce the winners of the Regulated Liability Network (#RLN) hackathon hosted in collaboration with UK Finance at our #EYFinTechLab. The innovation, creativity, energy and collaboration displayed by all participants was truly inspiring. So many great ideas coming from the teams: 1. Giving money purpose, ensuring earmarked money is used for the allocated purpose, such as green energy projects 2. Using the RLN to reduce the steps in a payments flow, which opens the door for previously unlockable value 3. Driving flexibility whilst delivering usability by giving users the ability to lock and unlock money when key milestones are met The fabulous judges were tasked with the difficult job of selecting their favourite ideas, but we’re delighted to announce: ?? 1st Place: Kaleido - A groundbreaking solution delivering interoperability between assets and regulated liabilities, using RLN programmable assets for trading tokenized bonds on Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) networks ?? 2nd Place: Commerzbank AG - Secure locking and unlocking of funds as milestones are hit, generating predictable cash flow management and operational efficiencies for commercial bank payments ?? 3rd Place: SETL - With their very practical location-based payments, their solution would smooth processes in car parking payments and tolls ?? Notable Mention: Millicent Labs - Targeting the use of RLN to drive interoperability with public blockchains A huge thank you to all the participants and mentors who made this event such a success. We look forward to seeing the continued impact of these innovative solutions on the future of digital assets and payment innovation. Stay tuned for more updates and congratulations to all the winners! A special thanks to the six judges who has the unenviable task in making the decision to select the winners Jana Mackintosh, Peter Left, Tony McLaughlin, Jonathan Donovan, Lee Braine, Peter C. and Dan Moore #FinTech #UKRLNhackathon #EYFinTechLab

We are thrilled to share that Kaleido was named the winner of UK Finance's Regulated Liability Network (RLN) Hackathon, hosted by EY at their FinTech Lab! Over the past two days, 15 incredible teams came together to prototype and present innovative use cases leveraging the UK RLN platform. Our digital assets and tokenization lead Javier Garcia Nonay and UK engineering lead John Hosie attended and presented our solution in person. We focused on the transformative potential of programmable money, particularly the RLN's ability to provide access to various forms of regulated money. This unique capability opens the door to addressing a key challenge: connecting digital islands where the assets live with the cash leg of RLN. Our solution also focused on another key painpoint which is privacy. Leveraging Paladin for programmable privacy on EVM, an open-source codebase in Linux Foundation Decentralized Trust, we demonstrated how confidentiality can be maintained for each party including the asset issuer, custodian, and investors. This hackathon has been an incredible experience and a testament to how innovation in programmable money can transform how value and assets are transferred and managed. Stay tuned for a follow-up blog with more details about the hackathon and the amazing solutions presented. #Blockchain #ProgrammableMoney #UKRLN #Hackathon #Privacy #EVM #Paladin #ComposableFinance #LFDecentralizedTrust
For the last two days, we have been running our Regulated Liability Network (RLN) hackathon, kindly hosted by EY at their FinTech Lab. This event brought together 15 teams, each prototyping their own use cases on top of the 'platform for innovation’ developed during the UK #RLN Experimentation Phase by R3 and Quant. ? By providing industry participants with the opportunity to build new use cases that leverage the capabilities of the UK RLN platform, the Hackathon is driving innovation in the UK, demonstrating how the programmability of money can transform the way value and assets are transferred and managed. ? All the teams did an amazing job, coding and writing presentations in just 24 hours! The judges had a difficult task, with so many great ideas on display. But, there could be only one winner, and for this hackathon the winner was… Kaleido. Well done to the whole team. ? Kaleido noted the fact that the RLN can give access to different forms of regulated money is unique. The challenge we face is, how can we connect these big digital islands to other islands where digital assets live. The RLN can facilitate this with the programmability it’s offering. The runners-up were Commerzbank AG and SETL. The Millicent Labs/ Agant team were also highly commended. Keep an eye out for a follow-up blog with more details about the hackathon and some of the solutions! ? #UKRLNhackathon #Payments #RegulatedLiabilityNetwork #RLN

Listening to the ever charismatic Vitalik do three talks, to three different communities in three days... very interesting. Here's how I internalized the messages: - Day1: to the core devs: We've established the split roles L1 for security, and L2 for scale. Lets get solving the problems we need to solve (EVMMAX and other L2 turbo chargers, Account Abstraction, DAS, etc. etc.). - Day2: to Enterprise: The L1<->L2 hybrid world is for you. Until 2024 it didn't work well enough, and you were stuck in isolated worlds. Now it's <$0.01/TX on L2s is the time, come build! - Day3: to DevCon: Let's look back at how we got to this diverse L1/L2 layered ecosystem, and look forward to what we can do. Reflective, and celebratory of the uniquely decentralized ecosystem of Ethereum It's a powerful message. #Ethereum has scaled. It's ready ?? ... and for the first time in my memory, #privacy came up in every session. Even the main stage in DevCon. Composable, programmable privacy. Unlike scalability it's not described as a solved problem, but as the next frontier. For enterprise that's a great reflection of where we live. We know EVM can solve the problems, but we have to solve privacy together to get to large scale production. I'm obviously hoping my our Kaleido contributions in the OSS world with #Paladin help break some of those barriers to adoption down, making ZKPs tokens, and programmable EVM privacy fit together. https://paladinprivacy.org … but let’s see. It’s exciting to be at the next frontier! Big thoughtful day for me today. In one foreign country I love ???? , thinking about another ???? ... and just having opened to world the most complex bit of engineering I've ever worked on. #EVM + #Privacy = ? Did we just sort out the "+" so the world can start working on the "?" that matters? Our collective distilled experience, on a technology where the goal isn't circumventing EVM to create privacy, or working around EVM to build privacy, but is only able to function *because* of #EVM. Building sub-ledger privacy within an unmodified EVM chain. Supporting atomic ledger-level transactions, in a way that's only possible because of the ledger-level #programmability that is the fundamental DNA of Ethereum. Where success is ecosystem programmability. Not just programmability by the creator of a token itself. We know what the power of innovation of open ERC-20/ERC-721 + derived standards has meant on public #Ethereum. Can regulated sectors finally get that same game changing minimum viable ecosystem going? The team of amazing international ???? ???? engineers I get to work work every day, have been on a *huge push* to bring #Paladin into the world. There's also been so many innovators in the enterprise ethereum space we've had the privilege to collaborate with to make this happen over the past years. So thank you to every one of you ?? - I'm privileged to work with you all! And that's it - it's out there. Not a thing held back. With our amazing friends at the LF Decentralized Trust team there to steward it in the open. Proper, pure #OSS. I feel like that moment blasted out of the gates of a roller coaster, breathless at the top of the first big ?? in the moment of weightlessness, waiting... and what's next? Let's hope an opening of the gates for proper end-to-end #enterprise production use cases, where privacy protects parties, and atomicity of transactions is still maintained. At Kaleido we've been on the journey with real use cases in tow. Not theoretical, but practical and real (exciting news here at #SFF you might have heard!). We ourselves have found we can solve problems with #Paladin that we just haven't been able to solve before. I hope many of you see the demos of that work, because I'm excited, and very proud of what the team has accomplished. Not a technology that's special because of any one individual super magic part... not our circom based #ZKP engine, or the next generation approach to Privacy Groups with ephemeral #Besu EVMs to succeed #tessera, or the ability to do issuer-backed tokens with an EVM based notary, or the sheer grunt work of making resilient UTXO data and deployment model on EVM, but something that works because it's the sum of all those individual bits of innovation. Brought together. Made possible by EVM. So like I expect so many others today in the world - today I think and wonder, tomorrow I'll reflect... and then we build! Together. In the open.
