Even a Texas windstorm couldn't stop the magic that happened at the Creators Playground during #SXSW. ?? From morning breathwork with Fish Fischer and Steven Jaggers to late-night beats with Matt Steffanina, we reimagined what happens when creators come together to talk business. Between the ball pit networking sessions and artisanal pizza breaks, our community proved that the future of creator commerce looks a little different (and we wouldn't have it any other way). A few moments we can't stop thinking about: ? Creators turning their trading cards into impromptu networking tools ? Breakthrough conversations happening in unconventional spaces ? What a WHIRLWIND few days at SXSW. In addition to co-hosting the official LinkedIn Creators Meetup, one of my other favorite events was The Creators Playground, hosted by Kajabi. After winning the “Best Business Creator” award at the Asian Creator Awards last year (sponsored by Kajabi), it was a must-see on my list. ?? And, what’s even better is I got to attend with my good friends Linda Le??, Jean Kang, and Erica Rankin! ?? Here were a few of my favorite takeaways from an interview with Colin and Samir: ?? Trust is the product. ?Trust comes before selling anything. Establish that part of your brand first before trying to monetize. ?? Don’t rush into business. ?It’s ok to be a creator on the side. Oftentimes creators want content to be a business too soon. Let yourself have “pure creative expression” without worrying if it will make money. ?? Authenticity vs. virality ?A lot of creators fall victim to going viral, then when they do, that viral topic defines you. Instead, pay more attention to indicators along your journey and see what isn’t working to help you decide what you want to be known for. Thanks to Kajabi for making this event happen! Day 3 of SXSW was an amazing whirlwind! I did a panel with Valeria Lipovetsky Jessi Duley @Danielle McClellan with my favorite creator advocate Allie Fernando on a Kajabi panel on how Creator can diversify their new streams with communities, courses, and memberships. I will make sure to share the videos soon. Thanks Create & Cultivate for your beautiful and empowering Future Summit. Then I went to have drinks with Jo Cronk and ran into Kaya Yurieff and Jasmine Enberg who had an amazing panel this morning. Next, Megan Bernard and I ran over to one of my most anticipated events of SXSW, which was to have dinner with my powerhouse client Caleb Hammer and his amazing President and my partner in supporting Caleb, Robert Kaliati. I’ve been helping Caleb grow his company for over a year and I have never met him in person. This was such an amazing dinner. Caleb and Robert are so incredibly smart and nice people. My clients make all of this worth it. Then we ran over to support the Dubai event where I ran into my clients, Jim Louderback and Cassandra Bankson. Shira Lazar who I love supporting. ?? Thank you Nizar Salman and @Sarah Alzayed for hosting such a great event! By the way this morning I went and did an AV check and Jim was so kind to try to show me where everything was and he climbed underneath the stage to find the HDMI cord for me. I really have the best clients and friends in the world. You’re a class act Jim. Great weekend in Austin spending time with Kajabi Heroes, teammates and creators in general at SXSW! One thing that definitely stood out is the increasing sophistication of creators and how they really are evolving into entrepreneurs. Amazing conversations around ownership, monetization, the difference between building an audience and building a business, and so much more. Massive thank you to the over 2,000 creators who came by to say hi and special shoutout our very own Janessa Mast for putting together an amazing event.
