Did you know that trauma doesn’t just trigger fight-or-flight—but can also cause the body to completely freeze? Many therapists misinterpret the freeze response as resistance or disengagement, but in reality, it’s the nervous system’s way of protecting itself when escape feels impossible. In this video, I’ll share: ? What freeze looks like in trauma clients ? How Peter Levine describes trauma and the absence of an empathetic witness ? Why understanding freeze is critical in trauma therapy ? How to help clients "thaw" and reconnect with their bodies ?? Want to dive deeper? Join my 2-hour training on March 26! ?? At KAIROS Counselings, we recognize that what’s often labeled as “treatment resistance” is actually a survival mechanism—clients doing what they’ve learned to protect themselves. It’s our role as therapists to approach this with empathy and deeper understanding. When we shift our perspective to see resistance as resilience, we create a therapeutic space that honors the client’s journey and fosters lasting change. Let’s work together to build trust, break down barriers, and offer the support our clients truly need. ?? #TraumaInformedCare #CompassionateHealing #KAIROSCounselings

As clinicians, we encourage our clients to develop self-awareness. A quick "body check" is a simple yet impactful tool to assess physical, emotional, and mental states. Try the following checks with your clients: ?? Physical Check: Is your body tense or relaxed? Encourage clients to use breathwork to connect with their body. ?? Emotional Check: What emotions are present? Guide clients to identify and honor their feelings without judgment. ?? Mental Check: Are thoughts scattered or clear? Teach grounding techniques to help clients refocus. Integrating body checks into sessions not only builds self-awareness but also equips clients with practical tools they can use outside of therapy. When we empower clients to listen to themselves, we help them cultivate resilience, healing, and lasting change. ?? #BodyCheck #TraumaInformedCare #SomaticTherapy #ClientGrowth #TherapeuticTools #KAIROSCounselings
