At Kai Ming, we always champion safety first! In case of emergencies, we conduct full-scale evacuation drills for our centers. We’re proud to share that our most recent evacuation drill was a huge success! Our children, teachers, and parent volunteers worked together to practice emergency procedures for the safety of our community. The drill included relocating to our designated emergency spots, giving our teams and children a realistic and valuable practice session. A big thank you to our parent volunteers for their support, and our staff members for their guidance! We’re proud of how well our children stayed calm, focused, and safe throughout the drill. According to the US Geological Survey, “the threat of earthquakes extends across the entire San Francisco Bay region, and a major quake is likely before 2032.” At North Beach’s recent parent meeting, our community partner Community Youth Center of San Francisco (CYC) led an invaluable earthquake preparedness workshop! Living in San Francisco means being ready for potential earthquakes, and this workshop helped equip our families with essential safety steps. Thanks to CYC for supporting our community's resilience!

Our St. Luke’s kids are deep diving into the topic of apples! From observing the different colors on apples to tasting various types of apples, our kids used all their senses to explore the nutritious fruit. Engaging in hands-on discovery, they turned curiosity into a fun and delicious study of apples! We are still enrolling at St. Luke’s, Sunset, Rainbow, and TKL! By popular demand from our kids, TKL is kicking off their Bread Project! For the next 5-6 weeks, TKL will explore all things bread, exploring it from every angle—cooking methods, ingredients, and more. This project will be driven by the questions our young learners ask along the way, as we believe that students learn best when they are engaged in a topic from a cross-disciplinary perspective over an extended period of time. In small group activities, we’ve already started discussing different breads from around the world, learning their names, and sharing our favorites. Rainbow Center’s Trick-or-Treat event was a huge success! Today, the kids had an absolute blast dressing up in their favorite costumes and enjoying a fun and safe trick-or-treating experience. A big thank you to all our family members and staff members who joined us and helped make the day extra special! Our dedicated Board Chair Larry has been leading weekly Health Training lessons for our Family Advocates! So far, our Family Advocates have learned more about crucial topics like health advocacy, preventative health care and resources, community and family resources, and sensory screening. These sessions empower our Family Advocate team to better support families with the knowledge and resources they need.
