We loved hosting Daegu University nursing students at our St. Luke Center!? The exchange students spent the day on-site, learning about Head Start and experiencing our vibrant classrooms. Our little ones gave them the warmest welcome with big smiles and great conversations at the table! ??? Huge thanks to our board chair, Larry, for leading this exchange and helping us grow our programs through collaboration. And a big shoutout to San Francisco State University and Daegu University Nursing programs for making this special exchange happen. #EarlyEducation #HeadStart #FutureNurses #CulturalExchange #LearningTogether #CommunityConnections

Thank you, District 3 Supervisor Danny Sauter for stopping by our Broadway Center for National Read Aloud Day! ???? Our preschoolers loved reading Giraffes Can’t Dance together and sharing their favorite books. Community partnerships like these help highlight the importance of early childhood education and the need for continued support from our local government. Together, we can create a stronger foundation for our youngest learners! ?? #NationalReadAloudDay #EarlyChildhoodEducation #CommunityMatters #GetaHeadStart

Our North Beach children made the most of the beautiful weather with a mini field trip to Trader Joe’s! This hands-on experience combined fun and learning, as the kids explored the store and discovered new foods. In the produce section, they practiced vocabulary by naming fruits with their teachers and picked out their very own banana to take home. In addition to getting a yummy banana, they earned an unexpected bonus: cute stickers from the cashier! This outing wasn’t just about bananas and stickers (though they loved both!); it was a chance to foster curiosity, build social skills, improve language abilities, and introduce real-world math concepts like counting and sorting. We love watching our little learners grow through everyday adventures! #KaiMingHeadStart #PotentialHasNoLimits

Thank you to all of our community members who supported our Richmond, Geary, and Sunset students at the Richmond District Lunar New Year Good Luck Parade! Our children had a wonderful time wishing everyone “新年快樂”,or Happy Lunar New Year, through song and dance. They dressed up in traditional Chinese clothing and showcased their very own dragon puppet, which they decorated with colorful post-it notes and tissue paper. This was an unforgettable experience for our children, and we hope to embrace even more cultural holidays and events with our community. #KaiMingHeadStart #PotentialHasNoLimits

Our Rainbow Toddlers have been exploring circles with curious hands, touching round objects in the classroom and spotting circles around the community. From listening to teachers introduce the shape to proudly pointing and saying “circle!” on their own, they’re building skills in observation, communication, and creativity. Back in class, we reflected on our adventures with photos and fun activities, turning their discoveries into a full-circle learning experience! #KaiMingHeadStart #PotentialHasNoLimits

We’re thrilled to give you a sneak peek of the incredible performance our Sunset, Richmond, and Geary children have been preparing for the Richmond District Lunar New Year Good Luck Parade! ???? Our children are happily practicing, putting their energy and creativity into every move to bring an exciting and vibrant performance to Balboa Street. We couldn’t be more proud to cheer on our young performers as they help ring in the Year of the Snake, and hope you can join us on Saturday, 1/18. Let’s celebrate together and make it an unforgettable day of community and culture! #KaiMingHeadStart #PotentialHasNoLimits

Kai Ming intertwines play and learning through a student-first approach! At St. Luke’s toddler classroom, our teachers have been expanding the Light project based on overwhelming student interest in flashlights. Our children used translucent color blocks to build vibrant structures on the light table, which allowed them to practice color recognition and counting. Plus, the puppet show in the shadow box not only demonstrated how objects interact with light, but also presented an opportunity for the children to engage in dramatic play. What a de-LIGHT-ful study! If interested in enrolling your child at St. Luke’s or other Kai Ming centers, please contact us at [email protected]. #KaiMingHeadStart #PotentialHasNoLimits

After making sourdough bread, Kai Ming’s TKL preschoolers are trying their hand at making raisin bread! They kneaded precut pieces of dough and folded in raisins to form long ovals. A quick bake, and the bread came out golden brown, sweet, and delicious. This process allowed the children to practice their fine motor skills as they worked the dough, and exercise patience as they waited for the bread to rise and bake. Plus, we love to introduce new foods such as raisins to our children to promote healthy food habits! TKL Center is still enrolling preschool children—if you or others in your network are interested, please contact us at [email protected]! #KaiMingHeadStart #PotentialHasNoLimits

At our St. Luke’s Center, Dual Language Learning is in session! Teacher Sherry is introducing the Chinese language through storytimes; pairing storytime with dramatic play increases understanding through acting out the plot. Picture books like “Why So Lucky Today” are wonderful tools for early learning! With vibrant characters and repetitive language, this dynamic story aids in pattern recognition and vocabulary expansion. The engaging repetition also boosts confidence as our readers anticipate and participate in the story, even in a different language. Through storytelling, our children immerse themselves in a rich language experience, building vocabulary, cultural awareness, and communication skills. If interested in enrolling your child at St. Luke’s or our other centers, please contact us at [email protected]. #KaiMingHeadStart #PotentialHasNoLimits

A big thank you to the San Francisco Fire Department (SFFD) for visiting Kai Ming’s Main Office to provide an insightful session on Fire and Life Safety! Our team had the opportunity to refresh key safety practices, including electrical safety tips, fire risk reduction, escape planning, and more. We even got hands-on experience practicing the PASS technique during a fire extinguisher exercise. We’re excited to share that SFFD will also visit our centers to educate our staff on fire safety tailored to young children. At Kai Ming, we remain committed to creating the safest environment possible for our children and families. #KaiMingHeadStart #PotentialHasNoLimits
