I was both excited and honoured to facilitate a workshop I designed in partnership with my friends at Kahilla on becoming a Competent, Confident and Compelling Communicator to a group of their members here in Boston. I’ve met so many people with outstanding technical competency who struggle to lead their teams, projects, interview for new roles and advanced their careers as a whole because they haven’t developed what I consider to be an essential life skill - the ability to communicate effectively. This has become a huge passion for me and something I plan to do a lot more of (stay tuned ??) Here are 2 quick takeaways: 1. People perceive your expertise as being equivalent to your ability to communicate with others about it. (Read that again) If you cannot communicate it well, people are unlikely to believe you possess it. 2. Anyone can become a great communicator.
