Not all hackers wear hoodies. Traditional thinking is that the bad guys are on the outside, and as long as we have good defenses between us and the outside world, our data and business is safe. That thinking quickly falls apart when we talk about insider threats. while it's easy to assume our business doesn't have insider threats because "We only hire the best people." data shows time and time again that simply isn't true. Who copied what file to what flash drive? Who accessed a file they shouldn't have? Who emailed documents offsite? Who took private data and uploaded it to ChatGPT? Your super happy and engaged employee is only super happy and engaged until they get passed up for a promotion or pay increase, get reprimanded, or get laid off when the business experiences a downturn.
