This is a big year for the K-State Alumni Association. For 150 years, we’ve advocated for and served K-Staters worldwide, as well as the university. “We’re excited to celebrate our Alumni Association’s 150-year legacy of carrying the banner high for K-Staters everywhere,” said Adam Walker ’04, ’09, president and CEO of the K-State Alumni Association. “The Association has an outstanding legacy of stepping up to meet the needs, connect, and celebrate the university and our alumni. The K-State Alumni Association has named Lisa M. Pohlman DVM, MS, DACVP, professor of clinical pathology, and Waithaka Mwangi, Ph.D., professor of immunology, as the recipients of the 2024 Iman Awards. Both recipients are professors in the department of diagnostic medicine and pathobiology. Sorensen ’51 and Brett Mallon ’12, ’14 have K-State graduation dates separated by 60 years, what they have in common is a proud family legacy of purple pride and a dedication to improving the world for future generations. One is a war veteran who was wounded in action and honored with a Purple Heart, and one is an educator who devotes his life and teaching to peace and conflict resolution.
