From Passion to Purpose: A Woman’s Journey in Hospitality Daria Sushentsova's story is one of discovery, resilience, and finding joy in what truly matters. She began her career in hospitality as an intern at a kids’ club in Thailand, unsure of where the journey would take her. From Marriott Phuket Merlin Beach to Sochi Marriott Krasnaya Polyana in Russia, and later as a chef in a 5-star hotel in France, each experience shaped her path. Yet, it was at JW Marriott Maldives Resort & Spa that she found her way back to her true passion—creating unforgettable moments for children. surya suresh is a Loss Prevention Officer whose career began after completing a post-graduation in Criminology and Crime Science, specializing in security management. She started her journey at Kochi Marriott Hotel and later transitioned to JW Marriott Maldives Resort & Spa. On this Women's Day, Surya reflects on her greatest inspiration—her grandmother. Married to an army officer, her grandmother displayed incredible strength and resilience while raising two daughters and building a house all on her own during her husband's absence on duty. Her grandmother's determination and courage in the face of adversity have always been Surya's guiding light. The wisdom imparted by her grandmother, "Just be yourself, there is no one better," continues to inspire Surya to this day. Celebrating International Women's Day: Lamya's Inspiring Journey. On this International Women's Day, we celebrate the achievements and contributions of women around us. Meet Lamya, our Pastry Intern. After completing her studies, she began her career as a cashier and was soon promoted to an accounting assistant. While these roles provided her with valuable experience, Lamya's true passion has always been in the kitchen. Since childhood, she dreamed of becoming a chef, envisioning herself creating delicious dishes and sharing them with others. When Lamya discovered an apprenticeship program at JW Marriott Maldives Resort & Spa, she didn't expect to be selected. To her surprise and delight, she was chosen! Now, she is proud to be an apprentice at JW Marriott Maldives Resort & Spa! Pursuing her dream and seizing every opportunity to learn and grow in the culinary world. Each day is a new adventure, and she is thrilled to be on this journey toward becoming the chef she has always aspired to be.
