Maryland is the first state to create a comprehensive Just Communities agenda, including the creation of a Division of Just Communities and legislation laying out an explicit agenda to direct funding and resources into neighborhoods harmed by systemic and structural racism. The first report from the Division "states the mission and vision of the Division, detailing information on racial disparities in Maryland housing and neighborhood conditions, as well as the current and ongoing work of the Department to address inequities." This is a roadmap for other states to gain inspiration and to take action in advancing a Just Communities agenda. Congratulations to our friend Cat Goughnour and her team for her leadership and vision.
