Justa Center officially kicked off our summer heat relief hours on June 1st. Members can enjoy the cool air, water, meals, and fellowship from 7:00 am to 7:30 pm, 7 days a week. Members can bring their furry friends with them into the center for heat relief, too. We are proud to be part of the 2024 Heat Relief Network as an official cooling center for Maricopa County. *Bottles of water are always available to anyone needing to hydrate. Stop in any time during center hours.

Justa Center provides help to hundreds of our neighbors facing homelessness. One of these was Gary Laird, who found shelter and safety thanks to Justa Center. He has now been working at the shelter for four years serving others in need. Reflecting on his work, he says: “The looks on people’s faces when we move them into a new apartment, it’s incredible”. Justa Center is one of the only homelessness organizations across the country tailored to seniors. With robust programming covering various topics, a free attorney service, and more, the organization provides a strong foundation for its members. The statistics on senior homelessness are staggering and they are only getting worse. Here at Justa Center we work exclusively with seniors 55 and over to help them find a path back to housing. Our center operates seven days a week, offering comprehensive senior services. We provide a secure indoor space where seniors can spend the day, offering amenities such as meals, showers, laundry facilities, phone access, computer use, cell phone charging, mail reception, and assistance in obtaining essential documents like ID, birth certificates, State assistance, Social Security, and Medicare. In addition to these services, we supply food boxes to housed seniors, offer free legal counsel weekly, and maintain a clinic with on-site nurses to address their health needs. During the winter, we distribute coats and warm clothing, while in the summer, we provide essentials like sunscreen, lip balm, personal misters, and cooling towels. Our day center hours are extended in the summer to offer prolonged heat relief, and water is freely available whenever our doors are open. Justa Center is deeply committed to the health and well-being of every senior who seeks our help, ensuring they are treated with dignity and respect. Despite our unwavering efforts, tackling this crisis independently is an impossible feat. Like many nonprofits, we depend on grants and occasional fundraising events, but most crucially, we rely on the generosity of donors to support our initiatives. Thanksgiving day at Justa Center was a great day of staff and volunteers serving our members an amazing Turkey dinner with all the trimmings. Our members were blessed with a visit from Arizona Governor, Katie Hobbs. Governor Hobbs served up plates for the members and spent time visiting. Some of the members said “it was the best Thanksgiving they ever had.”
