Today, our founder, Amanda Bronkhorst, headed off bright and early to The Compton School in Friern Barnet to speak at the London Borough of Barnet's Secondary School Headteachers’ Conference. After her well-received talk at the Primary School Headteachers’ Conference, the council invited Amanda back to discuss climate change, the urgency of action, and how schools can actively participate in repairing our planet. In a world where the headlines can feel overwhelming, today’s talk is a reminder of the action that's happening on the ground - and that it really matters. Scenes like those from Valencia highlight that climate change is on our doorstep, making it more important than ever to take meaningful steps. With nearly half of Barnet’s schools already participating in JUST ONE Tree Day, we hope today’s talk will inspire even more secondary schools to join us in creating a greener future. Amanda’s confidence in front of crowds continues to grow after so many talks in recent months. Standing room only! Yesterday, our team had the privilege of speaking at the London Borough of Barnet Council office, where we were invited to discuss the pressing issue of climate change, the mission of JUST ONE Tree, and how individual actions really do add up. ?? It was inspiring to see them hold their very own JUST ONE Tree Day, with so many participants dressing in green to support the cause! A special thank you to Claire Syms from Barnet Education & Learning Service (BELS) for her tremendous effort in coordinating this event and encouraging schools across the borough to get involved in JUST ONE Tree Day. Seeing the next generation actively engaging in climate action through JUST ONE Tree Day is a simple win for the planet and a powerful reminder of the collective impact we can achieve. It's JUST ONE Tree Day today! Schools across the UK and around the world (from Belgium to Bahrain, Switzerland to Spain and even Saudi Arabia) are coming into school today for a day of climate action: learning about protecting nature and uniting to reforest the planet! And having lots of fun along the way. It's our biggest event of the year, and we love it. Why? Because we believe the educating the next generation to be planet-conscious thinkers, is key to a sustainable future. ?? JUST ONE Tree Turns 5! ?? On Tuesday, the JUST ONE Tree team came together to celebrate our 5th birthday! As a remote organisation, we believe it’s better to plant more trees than to have offices, so it was a real treat to meet in person—and what a fantastic reason to be celebrating! ?? In 5 short years, we've planted 4.5 million trees, thanks to the unwavering commitment of our incredible team and supporters. While our work often takes place from different corners of the world, moments like this remind us how united we are in our mission to reforest the planet. ??
