Americans want #paidleave. Our data?shows 86% of Americans agree that it is important for companies to invest in expanded #childcare benefits, while just 44% agreed that companies are doing well on this issue – and this election season, we saw paid leave measures advance in Nebraska, Missouri, and Alaska on the ballot. By implementing comprehensive paid leave programs, corporate leaders not only meet this expectation and support the well-being of their workers, but also deliver measurable returns through improved talent retention, enhanced productivity, and strengthened brand value. Our latest report makes the business case for maintaining and/or?expanding paid leave policies, including: ? leading examples from companies across industries like?Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Etsy, Intel Corporation,?and?AMD ? a summary of federal and state paid leave pre-2024 election policies ? actionable next steps for leaders to bring these best practices to life at their company https://lnkd.in/eK7nuSRu

Election Day is finally here, the rare day that will certainly make a difference in the trajectory of America. Leadership matters so much on days like this, and business leaders have a role to play: ???? Encourage every employee to vote: Make sure everyone can vote by providing paid time off or flexible hours. And that everyone has access to support and protection if they need it while voting. Here's one resource: https://866ourvote.org/ ?? Support your workforce: Researchers have found that worker wellbeing and productivity dropped in the three months before a presidential or midterm?election, recovering fully three months after?Election?Day. Acknowledge that each person is experiencing different things, and work to foster the community of your workplace within that reality (https://lnkd.in/eGsUpdqC) ?? Model Civil Engagement: Set the tone for respectful, nonpartisan discussions and conflict resolution, ensuring a space where diverse perspectives can coexist and feel supported. ??? Champion Stability: Our democratic processes are vital to economic resilience. In the days and weeks ahead, we must support and trust the process. Check out resources like https://lnkd.in/eyUykDAr for more information On Election Day, let's lead by example to support both our workforce and the broader democratic framework that sustains business. #ElectionDay #BusinessLeadership #Democracy

Centering employee voices is especially important in this era of generative AI where other research finds more than?30% of workers?could see at least 50% of their occupations tasks disrupted by #AI. “There’s a conversation right now about upping productivity by eliminating jobs,” says JUST Capital President Alison Omens. “Centering employee voices is such a key part of thinking about how frontline workers can really advance this work in ways that make their jobs better, more productive and more fulfilling, as opposed to just thinking about this as a cost-cutting measure.” https://lnkd.in/gFmF25wv

Many of you know I have spent much of my time focused on making the economy work for more people across the country. The role of the business community matters to that— as employers, investors, and civic leaders. So what does the American people expect from business? A recent survey of Americans conducted by JUST Capital provides some insights (and full disclosure, I’m on their board). Two-thirds of those surveyed believe the current form of capitalism is NOT working for the average American. Further, they believe that CEOs of companies have an important role to play to make the economy better, such as addressing the items in the chart below. There’s lots of valuable findings. Check out this powerful article by Holly Corbett and Forbes on the value of putting people at the center of business success, featuring insights from my team's latest research report , The Competitive Advantage of the Win-Win Workplace. The workplace is rapidly evolving—AI, automation, and a multigenerational workforce are changing the dynamics of work and what employees need to thrive. This research led by Future Forward Institute in collaboration with Alison Omens team at JUST Capital and Stuart Andreason and his colleagues at The Burning Glass Institute sheds light on how companies can adapt by investing in people-first practices to drive performance. Some key takeaways from our findings: ?? Listen to Your Employees: Companies that actively seek employee input and act on it see boosts in engagement and the bottom line. ?? Invest in Continuous Learning: Upskilling and development programs keep employees agile and help companies remain competitive. ?? Redefine Success Metrics: Beyond profit, track social and environmental impact to foster a truly sustainable business. As I shared with Holly, “Investing in employee growth and listening to their needs aren’t just good practices—they’re essential for a thriving business.” Thank you, Holly, for spotlighting this important conversation. And a special things to Patti Constantakis at Walmart.org for supporting the Competitive Advantage of the Win-Win Workplace research. See the full?article here: https://lnkd.in/e35eYGUW
