?? Attention teachers, librarians, and educators! Applications for our 2025 Books Save Lives Grants are officially open! Our Books Save Lives grants provide up to $5000 per school/library to invest in shelving diverse titles by diverse authors. ?? February 19th - March 14th, 2025 ?? bit.ly/BooksSaveLives2025 Since 2023, WNDB has provided 10 Books Save Lives Grants to teachers, librarians, & other educators in communities deeply affected by book challenges. Our grantees are spread out across the nation, from Virginia and Florida to Texas and Utah, but they share one thing in common — their commitment to keep their shelves inclusive and diverse. WNDB will work with each grant recipient to develop a list of books that will then be shipped directly to the address provided. ?? Eligibility Guidelines: ?? Applicants must work full-time at a school library, public library, or educational organization to receive a Books Save Lives Grant. ?? This is a United States-based grant; nominated schools, libraries, and organizations must be located within a U.S. state. ?? Applicants must be located in areas significantly impacted by book challenges and censorship efforts, whether on a local or state level. ?? The grant must be used to purchase diverse books. ?? Recipients must commit to completing two evaluation surveys after the books have been circulated. To see full guidelines and find answers to FAQs, please visit our website. WNDB will be accepting applications from February 19th to March 14th. All readers deserve access to quality literature. Always. ?? We are so grateful that CLEVELAND KIDS' BOOK BANK could help get gold standard selections into the hands of young readers! #donate #bookdonation #dogood #Amazon #TogetherWithAmazon
Exciting News: over 100,000 Books for Cleveland's Children! I am filled with JOY and DELIGHT to announce a collaboration between Amazon, the Junior Library Guild, and CLEVELAND KIDS' BOOK BANK. This delivery is especially meaningful as it coincides with the ninth anniversary of the Cleveland Kids' Book Bank's founding! Through Amazon Local Good's support, we delivered FIVE trailers over two weeks to transport these books from Columbus to Greater Cleveland. Amazon's Fulfillment Center in Euclid, OH has generously offered to store 100,000 books until the Cleveland Kids' Book Bank transitions to their larger space. This partnership exemplifies the power of community collaboration! Why This Matters: ? According to the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), only 32% of Cleveland Metropolitan School District 4th graders read at or above proficiency level ? Studies show children with access to books at home are 20% more likely to complete high school ? 61% of low-income families have no age-appropriate books in their homes The Cleveland Kids' Book Bank's mission is crystal clear: fostering literacy and a love of reading by distributing free books to children through community partnerships. For nine years, they've been working tirelessly to ensure every child in Greater Cleveland can build their own home library. As Margaret Fuller wisely said, "Today a reader, tomorrow a leader." #Amazon #AmazonVestLife #TogetherWithAmazon Cc: Ben Smith, Paula D. Morrison, Andre Woodson Jr., Mia Gooding Martin.
