JA SEPA celebrates women in STEM during this Women's History Month! Mae Jemison went into orbit aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavour in 1992 and became the first African American woman in space. She is also a trained medical doctor, served as a Medical Officer in the Peace Corps and currently runs BioSentient Corp, a medical technology company. Jemison began college at Stanford University to study chemical engineering when she was only 16 years old! The JA Inspire: STEM Series serves as a catalyst for middle and high school students, igniting their curiosity and encouraging exploration of careers within STEM fields. Today students from Mastery Schools had the opportunity to visit Johnson & Johnson in Spring House, PA for a JA Job Shadow. Students had the chance to tour the facility visiting different labs and learn about cancer research from molecule to medicine.
