Our General Motors JA Girls' Dream Fair: A STEM Experience event yesterday was a blast! Our goal with this event is to help encourage girls to envision a future in STEM. Most girls start to rule themselves out of STEM career paths in middle school which is why it is important that at this age young girls are made aware of the career possibilities within STEM. The day kicked off with inspiring speeches from our wonderful keynote speakers Dr. Keli Christopher, Founder and CEO, STEM Greenhouse, Alex Windle, Environmental Engineer, General Motors, and Miranda DeKuiper, Plant Manager, Gentex Corporation. The girls then attended breakout sessions led by 35 JA volunteers from 15 different companies. Afterwards, the girls had a chance to attend the STEM career fair where they talked with STEM professionals and learned more about future career options.
